There is a reason for my appreciation of birthdays these days. In 2001 I was diagnosed with a very serious form of cancer, known as Multiple Myeloma, a form of cancer of the bone marrow. For a while my expiry date was considerably less than my TriX stock! Thanks to the Canadian medical system and some high tech chemistry (including stem-cell transplants etc) and the support of Tuulikki ( for a while literally so as I could not walk and was towed around in our apartment on a small dolly made by a friend), I am still around and trying to use up my M2's and TriX/Double XX at an alarming rate. As with anything- the cure is not without side effects. Two vertebraes in my back disintegrated so this is why i do not crouch anymore when taking pictures! I can get down, but I am damned if I can get up!
Thanks again all of you for your birthday wishes and I hope to stay around for a considerable time and promote the use of film and M2's.

All my very best to you, Tom, today and every day forward.. i've learned so much from you over this past year, it makes my head spin. Your flickr page always brings a smile (and additional dizzying info!), and is my first port of call over a.m. coffee. Your attitude towards life and sense of humor are beyond inspiring!
Oh, and happy belated 40th anniversary, as well!!

Thanks Fred, Mr B was mainly pissed that we did not accord him the attention he claims he deserves. Our friend Chris made a chocolate cake in the shape of a M, complete with Rapidwinder and chocolate Softie.
And here is a picture of it

Many happy, and especially healthy returns Tom. Since '01 also a couple of big, mean linebackers have been trying to stop me from making a TD...and I'm just barely past the 50 yard line

One thing though, where's the grip ????Thanks Fred, Mr B was mainly pissed that we did not accord him the attention he claims he deserves.
