A hearty Happy Thanksgiving to all, hope you have a terrific time with friends, family and loved ones.

For our friends outside of the US, it is our traditional American day of gathering with family to celebrate, well, family and camaraderie. Usually with a turkey dinner, some sort of potato creation, and gelatinous cranberry sauce. I know, gelatinous doesn't sound appetizing, but trust me, it is essential 😉

Hope you are all having a great day 🙂 Break out those RFs and take some shots of your family!

cheers

Tom

Thank you. I'm not sleeping today so that I can put the bird in the oven and mix up my stuffing...I haven't been sleeping near enough lately, but I'll sleep well tonight after it's all over. My boyfriend is going to have to drag me back to his place for a good night's sleep before I head to the video game store while I work for a nightmare of a day tomorrow. Six hours of after Thanksgiving madness in a store. We'll have a few of the new Nintendo gaming system...should be loads of fun.

I have homemade stock to put in mine, and good yellow onion. I'm looking forward to making it. Mmm...butter...sage...onion...

Crap, now I'm hungry and I don't get to eat dinner until 12:30. 😀

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

The wife is cooking today so I get a day to sit around and keep my head down. I shall offer no suggestions and will try not to cringe too much when I hear pots and pans crashing, and I hope there will be enough time in the weekend to clean up in the wake of the storm.

My dinner will be fine, Pam just doesn't have the process down pat, but in the end it is the results that count.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone all over the world [even though it is not an international day]. May you and your loved ones all continue enjoying the blessings. Life is good even when bad things happen around you. Look for the good things.

As for us here, we will visit some friends locally to enjoy together a great meal with many other friends and their children.

Man, where's a "barfy" emoticon when you need one? 😀

My mother-in-law makes a cranberry salad with fresh berries and citrus that is dee-lish and takes about 10 minutes to make on the stove top.

Happy Thanksgiving to all...

...I gotta go check on the bird. He's outside on the charcoal grill under a grey sky and drizzly rain.

Yes,Happy Thanksgiving to all

Yes,Happy Thanksgiving to all

Everyone have a great day with family and friends and do get some photos.
Glad to see you're back Stephanie.

Well, I just got the pie crust dough into the fridge to chill, and the pumpkin cut up and steaming. I'm enjoying a cup of coffee and the sun on the porch, even though it's chilly. I'll go cut up the apples in a few minutes, and start putting the pies together. They'll go into the oven in an hour or so, then it's off to the in-laws.

Happy Thanksgiving, all.

It's also a traditional Canadian day (tidbit for the benefit of our non-North American friends), but that was on another day earlier...

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

happy thanksgiving!
Thats one holiday that I miss here in Germany. 🙂 The first year I came here I didnt think I'd miss it, but then it was thanksgiving day and I got a real urge to have some delicious turkey. So I went to this "american restaurant" thinking: of course they'll have some kind of a thanksgiving special or some kind of turkey meal, only to end up in a major confusion trying to explain in poor german what a thanksgiving is. I ended up going home homesick and hungry. From that year on I always took the thanksgiving day off and invited my in-laws and had some good european turkey 😀 This year I'll have my thanksgiving on Saturday though. (no more vacation left) looking forward to it.

Hmmmm......

Hmmmm......

I'm sitting up here in front of the computer, my wife is downstairs watching the NYC Thanksgiving Parade, and I'm anticipating a HUGE Thanksgiving dinner that my brother-in-law prepares. He went to cooking school, and he's assigned Thanksgiving every year. We host Christmas.

As the family grows up and disperses, there's not as many of us at the table, but we're grateful and thankful for the family members who CAN be there, and certainly for all the priviledges and resources that we enjoy.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

You don’t need to do that, we have all seen Friends many times………thanksgiving is the one where you put the turkeys on your heads isn’t it?

Yes, yes, Happy Thanksgiving to all no matter where you are! My Linda and I are home celebrating this holiday alone. I sneak into my PC room in between my kitchen chores and read your postings on RFF. Though we have never met, it makes me feel like I have known all of you all my life. I know we would all be best of friends if we were altogether!

Warmest Regards

We'll have goose today, with apple-raisin stuffing 🙂

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL... wether you are celbrating or not!

Here's a funny story about goose eating. Many years ago a family friend wanted to have goose for Chrismas but he wanted a fresh goose; Only frozen is available so this friend decided that he had a better solution. The migrating geese spend the winter in our local parks and farmer's fields so he was "going hunting". Rather than illegally discharge a firearm and maybe get in big trouble, he decided to shoot one of those rascals with a bow-and-arrow on Christmas eve. While he was doing that someone called the cops, who couldn't arrest him becasue they weren't sure a crime had been committed. But in their uncertainty, the detained him (and the goose) while they tried calling the animal control department, the forest rangers, and anyone else who might be able to give advise. They kept him and his goose for a couple of hours but couldn't get anyone on the phone because they had all gone home for the holiday. Finally they decided to release him... adminishing him to pluck and dress the goose quickly before it goes bad. He paid dearly for that goose (in terms of time and hassle) but claims that it was very tasty.

Tom ... this is the reason I enjoy this place as well 😉

Have a great one ... cheers

Yup, today's a great day full of family and eating! Watching Food Network this morning while getting ready to go to dinner has made me SO hungry! It's a great holiday to just relax as much as possible, and focus on the good people around us. Each of you have a happy, safe, and filling Thanksgiving!

I arrived to the USA in 1981 just before Thanksgiving Day. My roommate at that time suggested that we "catch a goose". He took me to the local Duck Pond at Virginia Tech, and we chased the geese, but I kept on thinking "this can't be legal"! We did not catch any goose, and we ate turkey at some restaurant instead.

Ha! I just snuck into the kitchen and took a pix with the IIIf of Linda cooking. We have a fairly well lit kitchen but I still went to 1/30 of a sec. with the old I-22 wide open. We'll see. I have to see how that lens looks. It sure is a user. It's been around.................like me!

Dog gone cooking smells in that kitchen are making me hungry. Don't know how much longer I can hold out!
