But not in the way you're thinking! LOL

Last night at around 8pm I was photographing a large public art display billboard for the college campus I do occasional work for. Every time they change it, which is about every eight weeks, they get me to photograph it from various surrounding locations ... one set of pics in the daylight and another set at night when it's lit.

I was up a steep side street opposite the billboard with my tripod and D700 set up in the middle of the road when a female with a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other came wandering out of a nearby unit and wanted to know what I was up to ... it definitely wasn't her first drink of the day because she zig zagged a little as she approached me! When I explained to her what I was doing she seemed interested and became quite friendly, overly friendly in fact! By the time I'd taken the shots that I needed she had breathed beer fumes all over me, told me her life story and suggested I pop into her place for a few drinks if I'd finished what I was doing.

I politely explained that I still had two more locations to shoot from and made my escape! The worry is that next time the billboard changes I have to go back and do it all again! 😱

I know street photography has it's perils but this took me by surprise! 😛

That sounds interesting maybe when you go back the lady might be sober and not remember either way it could make for some interesting candid shots of her in the street inbetween your billboard display or maybe work them into the series?

You were being setup. She had an accomplice who would ripped off all your gear if you'd obliged her advances. Glad you were smarter than that.

That's a common con in many south Asian countries. Welcome to the 21st century.

Well Keith, it is your fault for throwing yourself out there like that. A D700 indeed!

Now if you had used an RF, there would have been 100 ladies attending and all with the most pure of motives.

I am so disappointed in you. 😀 😀 😀

I had an experience yesterday when I was testing a lens with an infinity focus shot in the public when a lady questioned me sternly if I were taking pictures of people in the streets. She must be implying herself because she just walked past me when I was taking a shot.

I replied politely that I was testing the lens and taking a shot at a lamp post far away and have certainly no interest in taking pictures of people. She then left embarrassed!

I've had that happen, except the dude (white knight) demanded to see the photos on my screen, and insinuated that I was taking pictures up ladies dresses. He was young too - about 25ish...

I agree... need photos of the young lady to know whether or not you did the right thing 😀

p.s. I do nightlife photography for a local paper in the summer. This happens more often then you'd think. Some of the ladies are actually quite pretty...

I hope you denied his request. You are under no obligation to show your pics or delete them.
