The best camera is one that still works!
But not in the way you're thinking! LOL
Last night at around 8pm I was photographing a large public art display billboard for the college campus I do occasional work for. Every time they change it, which is about every eight weeks, they get me to photograph it from various surrounding locations ... one set of pics in the daylight and another set at night when it's lit.
I was up a steep side street opposite the billboard with my tripod and D700 set up in the middle of the road when a female with a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other came wandering out of a nearby unit and wanted to know what I was up to ... it definitely wasn't her first drink of the day because she zig zagged a little as she approached me! When I explained to her what I was doing she seemed interested and became quite friendly, overly friendly in fact! By the time I'd taken the shots that I needed she had breathed beer fumes all over me, told me her life story and suggested I pop into her place for a few drinks if I'd finished what I was doing.
I politely explained that I still had two more locations to shoot from and made my escape! The worry is that next time the billboard changes I have to go back and do it all again! 😱
I know street photography has it's perils but this took me by surprise! 😛
