Has anyone coded a 21 Super Angulon?

I finally was able to get a 21 f/3.4 SA. I was wondering if anyone has coded theirs and if so, as what? I tested the SA out on my M8 on Saturday and I had some magenta IR contamination. The problem is, the falloff/vignette of the SA is different from every other 21mm lens that I have owned (elmarit, color-skopar, zeiss biogon), so I'm wondering if the M8 will apply a correct (or close enough) correction. Can anyone help me out here?😕

i'm not that far yet - coding not completed on the flange, but am guessing that there might be some useful compensation for the super angulon if coded as a WATE - 21 or even 18mm?

hopefully another forum member will have done his/her homework already for this interesting lens. 🙂

i did find the series VII uv/ir cut filter from B & W to fit the lens shade.

good luck

Rick,
I have a strong suspicion that this is not going to work. I think that the correction for any of the modern Leica optics (elmarit, WATE) will be targeted at the corner vignette. The magenta contamination that I saw was not only in the corners, but down the sides and some in the center. I'm afraid correcting the corners will just lead to more trouble.
If anyone has already coded theirs, I would like to hear how it is working.
Rick, it could be that we will want to use IR filters and then use a custom target in the free Cornerfix software.

good morning, cindy and spikey,
i am sure you are both correct - a uv/ir cut filter will be a necessity.
from the 6+ shots i took (without filter) before sending the lens for cleaning, the vignetting on an m8 is so far somewhere between minimal/negligable and "acceptable" as part of the SA look.
the magenta contamination reported by cindy will therefore be the key remaining issue. i'll watch this space, and will get back to you once i have done more testing with coded lens and filter. i haven't used cornerfix yet, but hear great things about it.
greetings from hamburg

Now I know why you sold your biogon Cindy😀

Dept. of hints and tips for CornerFix: If the SA really does have a very strange pattern of Cyan drift, when you generate the profile, you might want to try enabling "Multiple Equation" mode if you don't get good results with the default settings. Mostly, CornerFix's default (fairly simplistic) correction works fine - I've never actually seen a lens that needed anything else - but the ability to handle more complex forms of cyan dift is there if you need it.

Wow, Sandy. Thanks for stopping by to help us on this one.

If some of you don't know, Sandy is the author of Cornerfix. He has generously put it out there for all of us to benefit.
