DaShiv said:I bought a small army surplus "bread bag" almost exactly the dimensions of the R-D1 + Leica 35/1.4 ASPH + hood. It's burlap and provides zero cushioning, but with the strap around my torso the R-D1 rests up tightly against my side, and the whole bag disappears beneath my jacket with very little bulge when I'm out prowling the streets.
I have a few different padded bag/backpack options for the 20D (or when I take both cameras along) but if I had a pocket big enough for the R-D1 in my jacket, I'd just drop the camera in there instead. The "bread bag" was the closest alternative. I got the R-D1 so I don't have to use it with a "real" camera bag in the first place! (YMMV of course.)
Yeah, I think that's what I have in mind, the camera bag that isn't a camera bag. I have a Tumi backpack I carry all the time but that doesn't work well for the R-D1. I think I'm going to switch to a messenger style bag that will have enough space for the R-D1 so that I can carry it with me all the time. I'm trying to make it as easy as possible to carry the camera so that I don't have an excuse for not shooting.
When trying to locate a bag for the 20D, I initially purchased one of those large camera backpacks that have stiff sides. I found myself bashing people in the street and in stores so I had to return the thing for something unobtrusive.

I didn't see any offer of a free gift in the U.K. but we were promised a Cetificate of Authentication if you registered.
I registered online in January but I still haven't seen the Certificate. Perhaps they will incluse a gift as well as I've had to wait?

Jim,
I'm in the UK and I registered my R-D1 by post and online. I received my certificate (and R-D1 Owners Club card) about a month ago. However, Epson either didn't put any stamps on the envelope, or they fell off, and the postman wanted to charge me to receive it!

Thanks Alan,
I will chase them up. Will they say lost in the post? :bang:

Well I finally got an e-mail from Greg Barfoot at Epson Europe today (nearly two months after registering) asking me to confirm my R-D1's serial number for membership of the Owners Club. Strange as I filled this in when I registered?
Anyway hopefully membership and the certificate should arrive soon.
No mention of a free gift though.

I did receive the tamrac bag and elements. The bag is really good. The certificate is a nice touch, but a second battery would have been a great idea...

Well Epson Europe seem to have gone in to overkill on the Certificates. I got my 1st one on the 25th March but have just recieved a second one in the post this morning (10 weeks later). The interesting bit is that I was registered as Epson Club member 0022 in March but now I'm 0026 only 4 on. I know they have sold a few more than that in Europe.
We were only offered the certificate in the U.K. not a free gift. Anyone get a second bag?

I registered online March 16, and have not received the certificate/gift yet. Judging by earlier postings, I shouldn't be worried...yet.

TO all of you patient people out there. I finalled called Epson and told them I did not receive my 'gifts' yet. They looked up my registration form and lo and behold they never got it- I not only registered online but sent in the card using snail mail! So what to do? I insisted that their customer relations dept contact me which they did. Ultimately I did get the bag but no Elements or 'Certificate'.
Frankly,I think there customer service dept. does not have their act together. I am tired of the phone calls and used Photoshop CS2 exclusively anyway so passed on contacting them until I can find the time- would rather spend the time on photos than hanging on the phone.
The bag is a really nice one so worth the effort to get it free- probalby retails for about $40.
For those of you waiting CALL tthem on the phone- they probably do not have your registration!!!! Andf good luck.

I registered in early January and the first Certificate came in March (See above) but only after I contacted them. The second Certificate and membership just came about 5 months after registering.
In the U.K. I got two copies of Photoshop Elements 2 (not that I use it) in the box and both were listed on the box contents.

Is the serial number the one engraved on the accessory shoe? It was the only one I could find on the camera. Nothing was marked on the box.

Yes. The serial number is on the accessory ans should start with two zeros.
