Hello-

My R-D1 developed the multiple push shutter after 7000 exposures. As I patiently wait for my 2nd body (or repaired first body) to arrive, I have time to worry about things like: where is my Tamrac bag and whatever else constitute the free gift promised to all who register their cameras?...

Has anyone actually received this? 😕

I've seen several posts about R-D 1s that quoted a specific number of exposures. Where are y'all getting this information? Does it show up on a menu somewhere, or are you just estimating?

Thanks...

PS -- 'Way back when I bought my R-D 1, I did receive the Tamrac bag and copy of Photoshop elements. When I got the bag, it seemed like an odd choice to go with an R-D 1... but later, when I started using more lenses, it began getting more useful, and in fact now is my standard carrier for my R-D 1 outfit: camera, four lenses, a couple of accessory viewfinders, Epson P2000 storage gizmo, and spare batteries, hoods, etc.

I have not received anything yet. Not the camera bag or the certificate! What is wrong with Epson! I will call them in the morning and find out what is happenning.
Cheers,
Chris

The offer supposedly expired on October 31, 2005. Since I ordered mine on 10/30 and it shipped 10/31, I've sent a letter with my warranty registration explictly asking that they send the package. As I've only got Photoshop Elements, the upgrade coupon for the full package would be of great value. Let's see what happens. (From other posts, I hope that Wanda gets the request!).

Called epson this morning and mine is being shipped out today!

I called tech support this morning who passed on my whos to customer relations. I received a call about 30 minutes ago from someone in cutomer relations saying everything is being shipped out today. The bags were on backorderand actually came in this morning. I mentioned about other people and he said to have them call 1 562 276-1311 and check/request their gift.
Hope this helps.

You can set the R-D1 to "consecutive numbering" in the camera settings. You can never get a count from the camera itself, but with consecutive numbering, the number of exposures can be seen by looking at any of the RAW or JPEG files. For example, "EPSN7429" is the 7429th exposure.

Now to call Epson for my bag, etc. I could use a deal on CS2 as editing with Adobe Bridge makes my post-production with both digital files and film scans significantly easier...

Do you recall who you spoke with? The guy I spoke with this evening had no idea about this promotion. It was extremely frustrating to have to explain their own offer back to them. 10 minutes later, he wants me to fax the "Our Gift To You" card to them at 562-997-5731 so he can look up the details of the offer and see if it's coming from Epson themselves or another promotional partner. Oy. :bang:

My camera was purchased well before the deadline. I registered via Epson's website and received my Tamrac bag and certificate in approximately 6 weeks.

I really like the bag and am glad that we in the USA received this gift instead of the custom RD-1 case, (Japanese buyers) which looks really nice, but is not as useful. (At least to me)

However, it would be nice if Epson offered the special case for sale separately.

I just got a call from Epson (Mark at Customer Relations), and he says they are shipping my gift, etc. I don't know for sure if this is just the bag or includes Photoshop Elements, etc, but it's a step in the right direction. As I mentioned in another thread, if Epson chooses to make more professional level cameras, they will have to take camera service & repair to another level like Nikon, Canon, and to some degree, Leica. Canon can turn around repairs in 4 days (to and from you), and Leica has been very good in expediting CLAs, etc, when I mention that I use the camera professionally. The biggest problem with Epson, from what I can tell, is that no one really understands the camera as it is a rebadged Cosina product, and they have no official repair policy with it, at least that is communicated to the user. It's also worth noting that the English and Japanese Epson websites are MUCH more complete regarding the R-D1 than the US site...

I've never received a thing... not from my first R-D1 I bought in Feb, nor my second I bought in August... not even a confirmation that I'd registered them (both through the website). Makes me wonder if they are actually registered.

Hi Simon-

I had similar suspicions about registration, but they had a full "history" when I called. Call Epson at 562-276-1311 and check on the status. Maybe they'll figure out that they need to keep in better contact with their customers, especially after spending $3000...

Finally, today got a "certificate of authenticity", Photoshop Elements 2.0 and Tamrac bag. The bag is not very appropriate for the camera as has been noted. I assume most people who buy a $3k digital camera have a version of Photoshop, and I'm not sure what to do with a certificate that authenticates my camera. A nice gesture , but something useful would have been nice.

I am sorry to hear of the service problems encountered by some, my camera has been perfect so far. Can't Epson train one or two R-D1 specialists and give out their phone number if they are serious about getting into this market? There seems to be a large and unfortunate disconnect between a very nice camera and those who market it and those who enjoy it.

I just received my box a few days ago with the certifcate, PS Elements 2.0 (ancient, now) and the Tamrac bag. The Epson offer mentions a $350 savings on Photoshop, but I didn't see any details on that. When you go to Adobe's website, the offer to upgrade PS Elements to Photoshop CS2 for $449 only applies to Elements 3.0, not 2.0. Has anyone received this discount to Photoshop as claimed in Epson's original offer? I'm going to call them again tomorrow to ask for details...
