...ahh...that's why I was distracted...!
Back on topic ~ Ilford film are good now. Mottled film thankfully was a limited edition special release.

Perhaps related, perhaps not.... But I just processed a roll of Rollei RPX 25 which gave me a very similar kind of mottling on the negatives. I only suggest it may be related to the Ilford issue because the Rollei film has the exact same kind of paper and spool as Ilford uses; maybe Ilford makes the film and/or supplies the paper. Disappointing because I knew there were some sure-fire keepers on this roll now I'm going to have to go back and re-shoot them!
