Seems credible, and or incredible, not sure which. My head is still reeling from the return of Ektachrome announcement.
Anyway, hoping this is a good thing, if true. Chinese doing okay with Volvo.

My impression is that DJI simply increased its investment to become the majority shareholder? If so this is just a technicality.
I don't think I'll ever be able to afford a MFDB-mounted drone, though...

Smells like the megacorps are forming up as in William Gibson's Cyberpunk settings.
I think Hassie will be fine and will be having lots of independence, just like Volvo.

Actually, its more like: When you are a minority shareholder you go to board meetings and lose the vote. When you are the majority shareholder you go to board meetings and win the vote.

Given Hasselblad is basically just a brand name floating from owner to owner now, and has been for a while, I can't imagine the new owners would do any worse than the last few.

Will be interesting to see where it goes. When Omas (Italian pen brand that was French owned by 2000 and the Chinese owned by 2007) went Chinese owned, it was still sold as an Italian brand even though the quality control went down. They still had on staff some of the original designers and such but it couldn't keep them afloat.
They eventually went into liquidation last year after China cracked down in a ring of government corruption. Apparently the main thing keeping Omas afloat where the sales of those pens used as gifts in a lot of the corrupted offices so when that source of income disappeared the legitimate source wasn't enough to keep the owner from liquidating as opposed to restructuring (for a few months some of the employees who where there since before 2000 tried to come up with a plan to buy it back into existence under semi original ownership but was unable to do so).
In my eyes it seems like whenever an ironic "luxury" brand gets brought by a China or Hong Kong based company th e quality either goes way down, or it eventually fails because the income generated isn't a great enough margin over simply selling it off.
Far as hassleblad goes, it hasn't been what it used to for quite some time in my opinion.

Hasselblad seems to have lost its way - my impression is that Fuji's new GFX 50S is moving into the niche Hasselblad occupied. Given the small size of that market, I'm not confident there's much room for many players. I hope I'm wrong because high end cameras, just like high end cars, are inspirational. But maybe I'm just a dinosaur.
I hope DJI manage to do interesting things with their new acquisition. All jokes aside about a Magic Stellar, a medium format digital sensor on a drone would be quite amazing.

It already is:
http://industrial.phaseone.com/iXU_camera_system.aspx
At 100 megapixels, the iXU cameras deliver 11,608 pixels cross-track coverage, which is 12 percent greater than previously available medium format aerial camera systems.
Flying with an iXU-RS 1000 or iXU 1000 enables users either more coverage during a flight, while maintaining the same ground sample distance (GSD), or a lower GSD, while flying at the same height.

Dinosaur? Oh, my, glad I am not the only one who finds high end camera manufacturers an inspiration... Or at least I did but now I am not so sure. Maybe I am a dinosaur too. I prefer buying from companies that remain true to their history... Seems to be fewer than ever these days.
If that were to be found absolutely true, then I shall be a T-Rex! The high-end dinosaur without a dime to live on! LOL..! A film-shooting, card carrying, dinosaur living in a digital age.

Hmm... Apparently, according to Wikipedia, the largest shareholder of Volvo is Swedish investor Aktiebolaget Industrivärden which is good news IMO. Not so sure about the Hassy situation, though.

DJI buys Hasselblad?
DJI buys Hasselblad?
No one has mentioned this rumour yet, so I will:
https://luminous-landscape.com/hasselblad-acquired-dji/
If true, what does this mean for Hasselblad? Business as usual with just a new cash inflow? Or does this mean that when you try to develop a 'consumer' medium format product you need much deeper pockets because you are no longer charging $45k per body to fund development? Is it the end of boutique digital medium format makers and the beginning of the rise of new competitors like Fuji? An opportunity for Pentax to introduce a full frame 645 at a reasonable cost?

Funny, the EN.wikipedia article doesn't mention at all that data recorded by DJI drones are also recorded by the Chinese gubmint; but of course only when the drones are used in China, I'm sure

To be fair to Hasselblad, no one has stepped up and verified the negative rant that Kevin Raber found it in himself to write and frankly, some of us are not happy about it.
When the official word is out there will be something to talk about but until then, Mr. Raber was self serving on this one.

Ok, first off, LL's Kevin Raber is a known Phase-1 shill and now owns and runs LL in Micheal's absence. His post was uncalled for in tone and not very well put together in terms of facts.
Secondly, Hasselblad is doing better now than they have in some time with the excellent H system, the new X1D and the digital back I own and use, the V-system's CFV50c. They have great mentorship, excellent presence on social media and constantly feature outstanding new work by very talented shooters.
So I just don't buy this Hasselblad is doomed crap and *really* don't appreciate Sir Windbag Raber's rant.
Lets wait until an official word is given, because in my opinion, Luminous Landscape's does not mean crap.
