Hasselblad vs Rollei Shootout 1954

The 40mm lens differs quite a lot from the 38mm lens. Frank used to use only Hasselblad cameras, and he argued for a long time that his 40mm lens is "similar" to the 38mm lens, but then he stopped such arguments, and he recently bought a SWC. He seems to be very happy now.

The 38mm lens has zero distortion. The 40mm can be used with other lenses, which makes using it more flexible.

Raid, I have the new 40 FLE, and I absolutely cannot see it on the edge or any were as I could on my older, very heavy model. I do compare my shots with his 38 on many shots with the newer 40, and they stand up equal. Yes, with the older lens on buildings; I had to crop, but otherwise I was happy on the finished product.

I use the 40mm FLE when I want to crop the image in-camera (which is often). I mask the focusing screen to the aspect ratio I want. Then when I mask the slide mount for the same dimensions, my image on the screen will be the same as I composed it in-camera. That's for color.

For black and white, I prefer my SWC.
