Unless I'm missing something here (as in something odd about the sale), I can't really figure this one out. A 75 lux that looks to be in nice shape - not selling at a BIN of 1,600. Been up for several days.

Looks like the seller (who I have no affiliation with) might have a few strikes against him, but still...This is pretty close to what the 75 lux sold for before the M8 came out.

I'm confused. If $1600 is close to the price new, why are you surprised no one wants to pay that much for what is technically a used lens?

A discontinued lens. They've been selling in the $2,300-2,400 range for used. That's what I sold mine for last year.
I think they sold considerably higher than that when new.

Definitely a case where it's a bit annoying not to be able to go back and look beyond the past 12 months worth of feedback. All we can tell is that he's had one negative feedback and 34 positives in the past year. I'd like to know what happened in the other 200+ transactions since he became a member in 2001.

But heck, I do hope these lenses do come down in price. I'd probably take a shot on this one if I weren't intent on a nice 50 pre-asph lux.

I bought my 75 Summilux - EX+ condition - from Adorama for about $1,400 three years ago. Average auction prices rose and peaked just under $2,700 when Leica announced the lens was being discontinued. Since then the average has fallen to about $2,100. Economic downturn? Maybe, but I would not discount the absence on this forum of one of the most ardent cheerleaders fro the 75 Summilux.

Who would that be?

So I actually ended up pulling the trigger and buying this lens. I really miss the one I sold. So far, my communications with the seller have been very friendly.

And don't forget that this lens has now entered the "unobtamium" category, meaning that, since it's no longer being produced, everybody automatically wants one. I suspect that the price may fall a little, but to still stay much higher than it was a few years back. Afterall, who else is making a 75mm F1.4 lens?

Well, my gamble seems to have paid off.
The 75 lux arrived today. Other than a few small marks on the lens body, the thing is in awesome shape. Not sure what happened on the guy's previous sale that went bad, but he was pretty easy to deal with on this one.
And now I have one of my all-time favorite Leica lenses back in my possession.

1600 is a very good price.... I think the feedback had a lot to do with it, plus the economy is giving a haircut to almost everything over $ 1000...nice buy

two other recent ebay transactions for the 75 lux at $ 1733 and $ 1812
