Have B&W Magazine back issues?

I am looking for a particular back issue (issue #27) of B&W Magazine. This, I believe, is a US publication different from the UK based Black and White Photography magazine.

Any chance anyone has this back issue they are willing to part with?

Thanks.

Can someone please help me out with the B&W photo magazines? I keep hearing there are two (one US based and one UK based). I see one of them regularly on the shelves here in the US (B&N, Borders, etc.). Do I assume that is the US based one?

I have also heard people recommend one of these over the other (as in ..."i also subscribe to the B&Wphotography magazine, the xyz one, not the pqr"...). Can someone remind me which is the more preferred magazine? Of course, it might be a matter of personal taste/whatever, but if there is a clear winner, say it now! I want to subscribe.

The US-based magazine is "B&W Magazine", their website is http://www.bandwmag.com. This is primarly a fine-art photography magazine, filled with artist interviews, art show listings, etc. Lots of photographers advertise in here.

The UK-based magazine is "Black and White Photography". They don't have a proper website, but they can be accessed through the Guild of Master Craftsmen (GMC) website at http://www.thegmcgroup.com/page--Photography-Magazines--phmags.html This is a more "ordinary" photography magazine, with equipment reviews, digital and traditional techniques, and interviews. An excellent all-around magazine.

I have some back issues but I will have to see if I have that particular #. If I have it it is in a box full of magazines that I am done with but can't bring myself to throw out.
Friday and Saturday are my two long days at work so I'll let you know Sunday.

The American B&W mag seems to be for collectors as far as I can tell. The British Black & White Photography mag seems to be for photogs. At least that's my take on a sample of one from each.

Black and White Photography (UK) is, as Peter and BJ said, geared toward photogs. I have never read B&W magazine, but browsing through it on the stands gave me an impression similar to BJ's, that it is more a showcase of photos and interviews with artists. I am only looking for this particular issue as the work of an acquaintance is featured.

Yep. US for "Collectors of B&W Photography" and UK for "B&W Photographers". I subscribe to the UK one - not quite as expensive as subscribing to the UK Amateur Photographer, which comes out weekly, but still not cheap.

Borders and Books-a-Million and a few others tend to carry both B&W and Black&White, you have to check the labels.

Best Regards,

To piggy-back on Ray's thread, are there any Canadian (Toronto area) guys with old B+W Photography mags (the UK one) that they are finished with so I can read them? I'll pass them on (or back) once done.

Frank,

I have issues 1-33 of UK B&W that I have been trying to sell as a job lot. I was looking for 1/4 of the purchase price which I think would come up to $80-100. However I'm based in Australia so the shipping would be a killer for most folks, they weigh a bout 10kg or 20lb. I'm not willig to sepaarate at this stage, however I may reach that point in the future.

ray_g,
I had some time this morning and I'm sorry but I don't have that issue :( .
In the current issue, they are selling back issues for $10 to US addresses(including shipping) and $13 to "Canada, Mexico, and all other countries".
And they have #27.
The address to write to is:
B&W Magazine
Box 700
Arroyo Grande, CA 93421
Hope this helps!
