I took a few photos today!
The myth is disproved.

Go get 'em Tiger!:D
Use film or whatever, simply shoot.
It's not the tools or brand but the eye!

Have to agree with you Mcary as to what a survey might show - and thank you for saying it. I have not much experience with photography, do have a lot of years with graphics: and I am here to say there are photographers right here on RFF producing spectacular and interesting work with digital cameras.

Raid: Will be watching for your return to your old eager and upbeat self.

It's easy to let the passion for gear get in the way of the passion for creating images. We often focus too much on the gear and forget what we're trying to do, create.

I downloaded the firmware, and then tried out the M9. It did not work. It was a very long shot. Thanks to all concerned who advised me on this issue. I will next contact Carmen Vargas at Leica about it.

Hi Duane,
I tried emailing Carmen Vargas at the email listed, but the email bounced back.

Sorry to hear of your camera troubles Raid. If you haven't already, give Carmen Vargas a shout at Leica NJ: carmen.vargas@leicacamerausa.com or (+1) 800-222-0118 ext. 9932

You may be surprised on what they can or will do for you. I don't think its much different than your film camera needing a CLA or a lens adjustment after a bump or fall. Stuff happens and we don't live in a perfect world. No point in leaving the camera on the shelf as life keeps moving along and you don't want to miss documenting the growth of those beautiful children you have.

As to those that seem to think that needs to revert back to film. There are some of us that haven't shot film in a long time. I myself could not live with just a film camera as I prefer the "instant" gratification I get with digital.

Raid ,
Not a good news but sad to hear that.
It happened to me once and My M8 was broken badly . So I had to pay £900 and it was a lot of money as for the money I paid for the camera too was a lot , So this is unavoidable in digital gear and If you have a film body switch to it until you get your camera repaired .That is why I did and what I do once a while. so I don't bother when my camera dies next time .
:D
