HC 110 and B&H

When I opened up the bottle of HC110 this afternoon, I noticed that there was no seal (like the foil that you need to pry open with your fingertips) unlike the fixer and stopbath (both Ilford). The bottle says it expires in 2007.

Any HC110 users here know if this is how it comes, or has this bottle been previously opened? I'm just worried it might affect the shelf life of the HC110 syrup.

Problem is, it might not be worth returning to B&H as the cost of shipping it back would probably be almost the same as that of the stuff. Moot point as well, as I've also used it.

Hope to hear from HC110 users, if just for my peace of mind.
 
I use a lot of Kodak liquid chemistry in my studio darkroom, lots of E-6 components, in bottles of all sizes, not to mention C-41 chems. etc. I have never found Kodak liquid chemicals to have a foil seal under the lid.

Ilford is another brand and has their own packaging protocol.

I have used a lot of hc 110 even when it is quite old, as long as it is in the concentrated form. I don't make up the stock solution. I just dilute the concentrate out of the bottle at 1:31 at the time I am ready to develop my film. I have done this many times over many years without a problem. The concentrate is much less likely to oxidize compared to the stock slution
