HC-110 chemistry crystallizing?

I noticed this around 10 rolls ago. When pouring the developer into a beaker to get ready for processing, there is a “thud” sound. I’ve just ignored it for some reason because the negatives seem to be okay?

First clip shows sound. Second clip shows the crystals or whatever these are.. so weird.

Never seen this precipitate happen with HC-110 in the last 25 years but I also haven't used the new formula. Did someone drop some marbles in the bottle to help push up the fluid and remove air, to prevent oxidation?

When the old syrup was discontinued, I bought ALL the remaining stock that Freestyle had. I was on the phone with the guy who packed the bottles and made sure he read each bottle's SKU to match my old bottle here at the house.
No they aren't for sale.

If it is a new bottle, I wrote to Kodak Alaris (email) about this and they said that they have had precipitant reports. I guess it is some precipitate of a preservative (their statement). They send me a replacement which hasn't shown any precipitation. I've used my original new bottle (with precipitant) and have found no difference in using it compared to the old thick syrup.

The new formula is easier to use in some ways but who knows if it will have the same long life of the syrup style.

Ah, so it's a common problem. Any idea if this negatively affects the chemistry? It seems to be working fine but I have nothing to compare it to. Like an underexposed frame here an overexposed frame here and I could just blame the developer but it's probably me. How long did it take to get that new bottle?

The individual that I communicated with by email, told me that it would not affect the efficacy of the new reformulated HC-110. And that has been my experience. My times and negative contrasts are just the same as before. Like I said I like using the new formula better than the old, but there is that bullet proof experience of the old syrup that possibly will not be present with the new formula.

I'm not sure what you mean by the length of time require to receive the replacement bottle. It came in a couple of days, but I wasn't required to return the old one. I have to say Kodak Alaris was very accommodating. They even sent me three 36 exposure rolls of film.

Kinda similar, have had bottles of Rodinal also with crystals/ precipitate on the bottom, but always processes same as before. Will check my bottle of new HC-110 to see if I have this as well.

I'm thinking that warming the HC-110 a bit and shaking might help it to redissolve. No idea if it would work, just my "instinct."
