There is SO much info on the net about HC-110, but I'd like to try Tri-X pushed to 3200 using HC-110 dilution H (1+99) at either 68F or 75F.

The problem is, I can't decide on a good development time. I think my agitation sked will be constant for 30 seconds, then once every 5 minutes.

Any ideas about time? Massive Dev chart has 30C times...I don't want to go that warm.

Ideas?

I believe that Dilution H is 1+63, not 1+99. I use 5ml of syrup to 300 ml water, seems close enough.

under with that dev (1:100, 30 sec agitation, one turn every 5 minutes at 70ish), 30 minutes is my standard for TriX at 800 (45 minutes for 1200).

I'm afraid you are in uncharted territory for me.

hi,

sorry to confuse you further:

i tried HC110 Stand development on Tri-X at iso 400, results are okay for this roll, need to do a few more to determine if this is replicable.

HC110 in 1+100 dilution, did 2 rolls in one tank, 1 for tri-x at 400 , and 1 for acros 100.

600ml water + 6ml of hc110. all in room temp water, around 28-31C

1 min agitation = 20 turns of the tank
15 mins left alone
mid-way, agitate 5 turns
15 mins left along

water stop bath -> fix -> wash

that's it.

looks okay, my notes say can reduce time further as it looks over developed.

your mileage will definitely vary.

ps. as a rule of thumb which works for me: half of development time at 20C = development time for 30C.

You could reduce the initial agitation quite a bit and that may help tame the contrast. Try ten or fifteen seconds. ?

Since the Massive Dev chart has a time for 30C, does it make sense to double the time for 20C then?

Also, will less agitation preserve highlights, ie true stand for the push to limit contrast?
