I suppose it's blasphemous to say but sequencing and layout not important when compared to the photographs. Brilliant design will not save a book of bad photographs, and great photographs transcend the design of their collection.

That may be, but in books, sequencing and layout are important; that's a difference between books that are designed, by or with the photographer, to be read/looked at as one entity and compilations (some of which, of course, also can be sequenced/laid out in an innovative or artistic way by the compiler). As a photography book addict, I'm looking forward to receiving mine.

Much more going on in the new edition than I thought.

These are frame 105 from old and new intended to show how "blemishes" in the original, on the wall over the woman, have been "cleaned" up. Bear in mind I only have one original so no comparisons with the copy they used but these look like print/negative blemishes not introduced during printing of my copy that have been removed to clean up the print.

Wow...that's really strange they would do that, kind of like "hiding" film grain. I also did not know they scanned the original in order to reproduce it, certainly not optimal. I think overall it was a good idea to do it but these changes are a bit of head scratcher.

Not sure if I will get the new version, I also don't see this new edition bringing the prices down on the original, a book I am happy to say I own.

I enjoyed the copy I was lent by a fellow RFFer. Thanks Michael. Different images / sections resonated for each of us and it was interesting to discuss that.
