Headed to Slovenia

I go to Trieste (just across the border in Italy) for work a bit, it looks like I'm going to have to venture further I've the border next time. I'll be there early October, maybe the trees will have started to change colours?

Love the photos, looking forward to seeing more. You're whetting my appetite to go there!

Thanks, I'll try to post some more - lots more on my Flickr account if interested. Finally got to scanning the first two rolls of film from the trip (all black and white stuff).

You could easily dip into Piran, I think there is even a ferry that goes between the two cities. Piran is really a pretty neat city, very small but tons of very unique photo opportunities. The Julian Alps are just a hop and a skip from there...although I'm not sure when the trees change, I'm sure it would be absolutely beautiful there in the fall. Lake Bohinj is very similar to Lake Bled, but with more dramatic surroundings and WAY less tourists.

Ouch! Sorry: wasn't paying attention to who posted the pics. LOVED 3 (cairns/river); very much liked several others. When are you going back?

Cheers,

R.

Thank you Mr. Hicks - I'm not sure when we are going back. My wife and I unfortunately only get enough vacation to take one trip like this a year (and some years not at all). Not to mention there are SO many other places in this world that we would love to see - I think our travel bucket lists grow by around 10 locations every year :) I wouldn't mind visiting again though at some point, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for other people considering it.

Here are some from the film. These are Double X, rated at EI 200 in D-76 1+1 - I don't shoot street that often, so this was my feeble attempt at the genre.

I really like the barber/window reflection, and in a previous post, the piled rocks by the river. Thanks for sharing!

All great shots! This thread has really gotten me excited about going to Ljubljana. My wife and I will be there in a couple of weeks for a total of 4 days. We plan on taking a day trip to Lake Bled and possibly Vintgar Gorge. No other plans.

We both love cities, and will probably enjoy just walking arouond the city. We chose not to go Piran, as we will be travelling to Venice after Ljubljana. I do wish that we had more time to spend in Slovenia - as someone who is half Croatian, I appreciate the cultures/peoples of this area.

Have fun! That trip was a blast for sure. Vintgar was really awesome, and it started raining while we were there so we had it almost to ourselves. My wife and I both enjoyed Lake Bohinj quite a bit more than Bled, probably further than a day trip from Ljubljana though. I think if we had to do it over we would of stayed in Bohinj and not Bled.

I remember there was a train we could of taken through the mountain (like drive the car on the train) but we decided to just drive from Bohinj to Bled...that was a mistake! Took forever, and for sure got lost several times as the GPS was spotty there.

I've been to Venice before and Piran is similar, but very different at the same time. Piran was probably our favorite stop overall. Look forward to your photos and safe travels!

Jordan, I am enjoying the pictures you've posted and look forward to seeing more.
Hope to travel to Slovenia and Croatia maybe next year. Thanks for the posts.
