Found this on Amazon (.com) while looking for a finder for my new 21/1,8. $300 USD for a new 21 with finder sounds like a good deal... but:
1. what do I actually know about US pricing
2. it's not a great deal for me in Canada, where it becomes something like $450

...and up here, a 21/25 finder at Camtec is like $275 all said and done. calisse.

(insert complaining about how 21mm finders are stupid expensive)

somebody buy them before I get dumb ideas. Unless it's actually not a great deal and then maybe don't buy it I guess.

I think it is a good price for down here. New Old Stock (NOS) from PhotoVillage.

I did not that the exchange rate has flipped that far. We used to bring the kids up to Horseshoe Valley for a week of sky school for several years. Illinois and Iowa are not known for more than a few hills.

I've been doing better with GAS. I was lucky someone picked up the Nikon F Apollo before I broke down.

Horseshoe valley (ski?)... Barrie? I was up there last weekend. But just doing racecar stuff.

The exchange rate is pretty bad, ~1.30. So ebay is not worth it for the most part. So, I have to wait til a SBKOO turns up on the local classifieds and tape up my 12mm finder in the meanwhile??

I mean, I'm complaining, but don't get me wrong. I have food and shelter and sometimes I get to pet cats so life's pretty good.

Yeah Barrie. Simpson brewery, fun food, kids learned an important life skill they never would have.

The early CV glass was excellent. I near had the 21 but the 25 snapshot is my favorite ltm lens. So small, fast handling, flair resistant, sharp.

I used, with an adapter, a CV 21mm LTM on a Leica M6 back in my film days. It was really a sharp lens. I loved the small size as well.

Exactly so. Yesterday we got to pet an old Calico on our walk in my neighborhood, and the day before we met Raven, an elderly grey cat. Met two dogs too, but they don't count.

I have had this lens since it came out. I haven't used it much with digital, and that's an M8, but it's a wonderful film lens. The finder works well, too. That's a bargain.

Picked up the last black one, thank you mooge and all for the notice/reviews. i had been keeping an eye out for a 21mm... ditto on 21mm finders being awfully expensive!

3 still left in silver

KoFe.... sure can. I do it all the time...ships right to my door in Alberta.

Finder is included, so you get a decent lens for $25.

When digital came along I could see my 25 was only sharp in the center and decentered a lot. It is my best paperweight. Have not purchased anything CV since.

Did you like the pictures you took with it before you found out how flawed it was? Perhaps I got a better sample as I did, I may not be as picky, it was a lot of fun on my Bessa L.

All this talk of flare got me looking back at my photos shot with this lens. Here are a few with the sun in the frame and the lens is flaring pretty good:

Personally I think if anything the flare adds to these images. I love my little VC 21mm LTM, and I think its great performance in such a small, quality package is a true treat. And the fact that its LTM makes it pretty much unparalleled; what other 21mm is this small and great?

It's a beautiful lens. I'm looking to get an LTM so i can use it on my black paint iii. The M version is one of my favourites. Flare? Any time you have a wide angle shooting into the sun you've got a challenge. I can tell you how many 4x10" negatives i have shot with the super-angulon XL that are discards because of the flare. Love the voigtlander 21 f4

What a bummer, it is now 419 USD. I have actually been thinking about getting a 21mm lens, but to be honest, I was thinking of the 21mm / 1.8 VC...but for 300 USD I would of pulled the trigger.....oh well, next time

cheers
