Can the late model Gold Hexar AF be set to silent mode like the early black model?

There is one on aussie feebay. don't know if you can pull it up on other feebay servers.

A long time ago, I managed to dig up the feature lists of all the models. I don't have the original references, but put it in a file.

The gold model has the most extensive feature set straight from the box:

45dB Silent mode
Multiple exposure
Programmable flash GN
Infrared autofocus
Fast exposure setting in M
Auto bracketing

I am afraid I do not understand these posts. Are you guys speaking of the 120th annyversary Gold Hexar (I think only 500 or so were made)? It seems that it can do anything any other Hexar can or more but for the price of this you should be able to buy whatever silent or noisy camera you like. Also the so called Rhodium Hexar has silent mode, however according to Stephen Gandy the real silent mode was only on the original black and black data versions and every other version has a different system (possibly baring the same name but not the same performance). Hope this helps.
I have the original black and the lens and exposure system are just superb, at the same level of a Leica (lens) or better (exposure). I have never seen any Hexar other than mine so what I wrote was just taken from manuals and/or articles...

This info from Stephen Gandy predates the discovery of the configuration procedure for the Hexars.. And indeed, for some time, it appeared only the black/black-data had silent mode built-in..

But the complete extended features set mentioned (45dB Silent mode, Multiple exposure, Programmable flash GN,Infrared autofocus, Fast exposure setting in M, Auto bracketing) is configured in a non-volatile memory and can be added/subtracted one by one at will through a reprogramming process which is detailed on photonet (http://photo.net/photo/hexar.html scroll down to Dec 21, 2003 for the table).

At one time I even took the time to go through a number of values instead of D[FA] at step 8, to turn on/off each of the features. I don't have the patterns anymore, as D[FE] gave the complete list..

Wow thx for the prog. link.
My classic hexar arrived today -without battery. damn. just like in the old days at christmas. Unwrap a new toy you were wishing for ... and amid great excitement: crash - batteries not included!
