Heads-up! Kiev-2

If the dual logo front plate (from the 2a) is original this may be in fact a curious piece ! 1955 marks the start of the flash synced 2a so this may be a very early 2a without sync or a late 2 with the new style logo.

In any case, a very good purchase if it goes for the price of a Kiev-4.

The one I own also has a dual front plate, but the SN was defaced, so I could never pin down the date of manufacture.

Nonetheless, mine and this one are probably 'Tweeners, with characteristics of both.

It is already getting close to the price of a 4a with 7 days left to go. My prediction is that it will go for about 80% of the average price of a Kiev-2.

There are seldom more than 1-3 of these on e-Bay at a time. They are nice cameras, probably the best made ones during the Soviet years.

Wow ! Already at $97

Maybe this is the lost link between the 2 and the 2a and somebody noticed that ?

Anyway, looks to be in very very nice condition...

I may have been wrong about the price. It could go for close to $175. These bidders are in there early. Watch the last hour.

It's like a wishing well! Postulate a demand and the supply magically increases!

Six more Kiev-2's appeared on e-Bay with BIN prices. We may be approaching a buyer's market for this model since I don't think there are six bidders in this first auction.

Where? I must be looking in the wrong place because I'm not finding them.

Thanks,

William

I just did a search for "Kiev 2" They all came up in e-Bay stores with BIN prices. Sometimes "Contax copy" will bring up additional ones.
