Heat in Saint-Petersburg.

Great pictures, I like them all, but I find very interesting N° 2 (there is something symbolic in it); 7 (very curious); 18 (zen discipline!); and 19 (great looking).

Shoot, imagine my disappointment. We're moving to St. Petersburg next year, and I was admiring the nudenik wahine (Hawaiian for female), but it didn't take long to see, clearly, that you weren't in St. Petersburg, FLORIDA. Just a hunch, but I'm willing to bet the house (and the shirt off Linda's back) that my St. Petersburg shots will not look like these.

That's Russia... It's also called cultural capital of Russia... And after twice visiting it I think, it is so...

And I think, even, if you would go strait to Russias St. Petersburg, you would not be able to take those pictures... You would have taken another ones...

It's certainly a gorgeous city, and St.Petersburgers don't have much time for Moscow. I remember a man in the Fregat restaurant saying contemptuously, "Moskva? Hah! Is big village!"

Actually, because of his accent, it sounded more like "Iss pick willitch!" -- which is now our standard comment for cities that don't come up to expectation. And I wish I could speak Russian as well he spoke English. Frances speaks a little: I don't.

Of course, the name of Satu Mare in Transylvania actually means 'big village'.

Some very nice pictures of the many nice gents & ladies of St.Petersburg, but not much of the city itself. To me, the pictures seems to have been taken on 'the other side' of the Neva River, alongside the walls of the Peter & Paul Fortress. Lenin's brother sat in the jail there. Before being executed. By the orders of the tsar. And the remains of the last tsar family are laid to rest in the church we see in one of the pictures.

On that north-east side of the Neva River is also the huge Artillery Museum. Highly recommendable. Not a place you would expect to find a complete American Honnywell Bull cryptograph from the 70'...

This series is not about city... It's about annatural heat for this town and people who live there...

Also, I see you know some historic facts... Thought, you know more then I do...

Great photos ... they all convey a sensation of heat induced lethargy which living in Brisbane I'm pretty familiar with. 😀

I'm curious though as to what the actual temperature was and what constitutes a 'heatwave' in this part of the world?

New officialtemperature recors in Saint-Petersburg is +32,5 C...
But it felt like +42 C...

Don't know what temperature and humidity you have in Australia, but for our region, temperature is pretty high... In winter we have down to -30 C, and in summer we have up to +35 C... Including our humidity, it's not very suitable for people...

In Ukraine and Russia, weather is familiar... Ukraine is more high temperature thought...

Hi Volodimir,

A couple of years ago in Brisbane we had two or three consecutive days in the low forties (celcius) and days in the high thirties are pretty regular during the peak of an average summer.

I hated it when I first came to live here but the body adjusts eventually. I don't know that I could adjust to -30 though ... a cold winter day for me is 10 deg max with a minimum of 4 or 5 deg ... and that's pretty rare! 😀
 
Also, -30C in Ukraine and -30C in Sibir, Russia is quite a difference cause of humidity... In Sibir -50C is normal winter temperature, but I guess it's not that -50C as in north pole, cause humidity (once again)...

Luckely we don't have to adjust like you, cause we can wear something warm... 🙂
