Everyone talks about light small cameras, so I thought I'd see about the other way. What's the heaviest 35mm camera you have?

Mine is far and away my Kiev 5 - 980 grams without film and lens... Who needs a health club with that in my bag?!?

:D

Any others?

Nikon F2s With DS-1 "EE" Servo-Motor and MD-1/MB1 Motor drive with 10 AA Batteries. Makes a D1x look light.

I have cut down my cameras quite a bit, but that M6, though small, ain't light. It must be my heaviest.

Rangefinder: Kiev 4 or Konica Auto S2
SLR: Pentax K2 or Yashica TL-Electro

Brian took the words right out of my mouth, a boat anchor solid combo.

In RF it would be any of the Argus "bricks" or my Universal Buccaneer.
Since I have mainly classic SLR's, most are heavy, but the early Prakticas/Zenits/Edixa/Topcons would all work as either effective weapons or great hammers.

Brian,
Do you have a set of scales that will take your F2 kit? :) ... it would be interesting to know how heavy it is loaded with batteries and a lens.

My heaviest would be my Nikon F3HP with motor, firing rate converter, Ni-Cad pack and 35mm/f1.4 lens... spec's I just grabbed off web sites puts it just over 2kg

My Olympus OM-1's, while compact, have a lot of heft. But the one that always surprises me is my old Pentax SLR (H1a). It feels like a brick when I lift it.

I will have to weigh the F2 kit. It is much heavier than my F3AF with MD4. I do not have a firing rate convertor, but it is not that heavy. I used the Nikon F2 Setup with a 300mm F4.5 Nikkor-H at Air Shows. The Inertia kept it steady.

Definately my Nikon F4e + 2,8 80-200
Not a 35mm but my Mamiya C33 weighs a ton ......

In the 35mm family, I guess that would be my Nikkormat ELW... A heavy beast, compared to my other Nikons - FM, EM and the F80 (i.e. N80). It also has the loudest and "hardest" mirror slap. After I've started using rangefinders, only the N80 sees any use, since it's AF and is also very quiet compared to others.

In the RF family, it must be the Leicas. With M6 on the way, we'll see if it will be the RF heavyweight champion :)

My Canon Eos 3, it weighs 780g without lenses. My Leica and my Canon weighs less together (including lenses) than Laikas F3HP. :p

Um... My 35mm for the Mamiya 645 was heavy, and big. I'd guess over a kg.

In keeping with the tenor of the site, I'd have to say it was my Summilux ASPH.

Hmmm, I have the Mamiya M645 35mm lens, too, and actually find it pretty compact and light for an MF lens - have you ever seen a 50mm CZJ Flektogon or 180mm Sonnar? Now those are big and heavy...

Laika

I just checked web site specs for the combo Brian has with a 35mm f1.4 attached and was up to 2kg without batteries so I will bet it will be a close race.
