Hello Everyone. I just joined the forum after a recent purchase of a IIIc and 50mm Summitar. I am so glad I found this forum as it's been a wealth of really good info and for that a huge thank you. The IIIc is my only smaller film camera as I shoot primarily with an 8/10 Deardorff. So, this will be a big (or small) transition for how I work. I find the IIIc is almost theraputic in it's use. I am sending it to Youxin (found him here) for a CLA and to replace the beam splitter. I am amazed at the watch like precision of the camera and found it is an absolute joy to operate. Any rate here is the new camera and a image made of my daughter . Thanks again to all you have contributed to this forum which made my selection and all so much easier.

Welcome, Mike. Looking forward to seeing more of your work as you continue to use that "pocket-sized" camera. (smile)

Hi Mike and welcome to RFF. That is a nice looking camera, lens and viewfinder you have. We'll look forward to seeing more pictures from it. Nice portrait of your daughter. Thanks for sharing!

Regards,
Tom

Welcome Mike, very nice kit indeed. I am interested to hear how your camera turns out from its trip to Boston, I have a trip to visit Youxin Yi in mind for my IIIc also.

I have a IIIc , recently aquired lifelong dream ... and i love mine too - now you can start aquiring Russian lenses to extend the experieince !
They really are very welcoming here - even to crazeee people !

Camera was shipped off to Youxin Ye Tuesday and I am having severe withdrawals and cravings!!!! Wanted one of these all my life and I finally get one and now it's gone. Anyhow, I am having him send me the top and bottom plate upon dissassembly and will paint them black. Will document the whole process and post upon completion if anyones interested.

Dee ....... not to be a noodge, I really want to fight the lens assortment thing on this as I'm looking to a simple and minimalist basic approach for now. I am always tempted to get more (photographic) stuff and for me anyways that's not always good. I have photographed for years with my 8/10 Deardorff and always had a minimum of 3 lenses and never really hit my stride so to speak till I cut it down to one. This is just me as my mind sometimes can't handle the selections available when presented with too many options. I know, sounds wacky but that's how it seems to play out. When I was younger and couldn't really afford to get more stuff I did anyways and now I'm in a position financially where I can ....... I don't. Go figure.

Wish I could stick to what I need , Mike , I admire your restraint - had just a Chinon SLR and 50mm / 35 mm lenses for a decade before going for Minoltas !

your daughter is beautiful but looks somewhat angry.
Did you have to send the Leica to Youxin because of this ?:)

Those with the lightmeter seem to be cheaper , but i will simply buy from Oleg , fully serviced .
The Kiev 4 seems more attractive !

Same kit as I have recently acquired. Enjoy using the camera when it returns, they are little jewels.

(This place is a goldmine for information on all things RF)

That's funny. No not angry just really early in the morning and putting up with 16yrs of being forced to model for her father! On a happier note I printed an image of my Mother and Father I made on this camera before I sent it off to Youxin. Speaking of Youxin, this man is really nice to deal with. He disassembled the camera and sent me the top and bottom plate for me to paint. I will put up a little blog documenting the whole process if anyone else wants to have a go at it. I have the parts stripped and will paint tommorow. Man, do I ever have a Jones to make some pictures with it!! This is killing me.
