Hello Everyone,

Today I have joined the ranks of Leica M owners.

I just won an auction for a Mint- M6 non TTL in chrome. The camera comes in the hard box with the warranty card but no box, strap or manual. I paid $1075.00 is that a fair price? It seemed so to me from what I had seen others go for.

What strap would you folks recomend with an M? Do any of you know where I could get a copy of the manual in PDF format.

I will be using this camera for available light weddings and street photography. I am so stoked!

Thanks, Mark

Welcome..

Looks like a good price to me. I was looking at one recently for $1395 but didn't buy.

PDF manuals for any of the M-series Leicas are somewhat if not impossible to find. I would suggest contacting Leica USA for an original.

The Summicron is a fine first 50mm lens for any Leica.

Hi there! If the M6 is in working condition, then that's a good price for it!
For a strap, I would recommend a Luigi strap from Leicatime. Expensive, but effective and stylish

Please allow me a moment to instruct you on teh intarwebs.

Crasis,

Thanks for the info to get pdf manual.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

I look forward to learning from you with this being my first Leica and rangefinder. I am taking a step back in my photography from Nikon DSLR's. I have had a real need lately to get back to my roots with B&W film and available light work. The D200's I use are great cameras but I look forward to shooting some available light in my weddings.

Cheers, Mark

Welcome Mark, great camera and great price. I second Peter's thoughts on the Domke Gripper, works well!

Post some pics soon!

Hi Mark,

I answered your thread over on Photo.net. Congratulations on the M6.

I have a Luigi strap for my M3. Before I got this, I used the Artisan and Artist cloth strap sold by Photovillage, which I like but is a bit long for me (I am 5'1") and not adjustable.

I use a Nikon dSLR also -- but a D70s.

Welcome, Mark. It always brightens my day to see a new person come along.

Not a bad price on the camera.

Welcome, Mark. Provided that the M6 you got is in good working order, that was a good deal.

The M6 is a heck of a way to get started into the cash-flushing world of Leica ownership. Cash-flushing isn't something to be proud of, though, but once you get used to it, there's no turning back.

Hey Melanie,

Your link to your pictures on this site is how I found this site. Great shots BTW! Thanks for pointing me in this direction!

Do you shoot professionally? You have a wonderful eye.

Cheers, Mark

Thanks, and no. I kind of think that if I made any money doing it, I wouldn't think it was fun anymore. (This doesn't apply to my real job, but then again, I don't make very much money.)

Welcome Mark and congratulations on your acquisition. Its a great camera. A word of caution though, this place is very bad for your wallet🙂
