Few days ago I was asking opinions about Canon P and someone said I should come to this forum and more precisely find a P-nut named Joe. After Reading some of the older threads, I think I know what he meant.

I just got a nice black P, although not cosmetically in mint condition, but in great working condition.
Got it with 50/1.2 and 35/2.8 jupiter that actually fits, but I have to be really careful when mounting it. Seems like a really nice camera to use, better than my Contax IIa with 50/1.5 sonnar.

Welcome Joona, the P-nut is a couple time zones away from wake up time, but I am sure he will appreciate the fact that his reputation is spreading when he signs in.

Very nice P you have there by the way. It has that "I am experienced and know what I am doing" look to it.

Now treat that IIa well too, otherwise she will run away and find someone else to love her.

Welcome, Joona.

That look's like a well-used, well-loved P to me.

Enjoy your stay here, and again: welcome!

An original Black Canon P such as yours is quite Rare and valuable. Be sure to post some pictures with it here.

Have you seen Joe's Poll for favorite camera of all time? I think The Canon P won.

Strange thing, because everybody in the civilized part of the universe knows that Contax IIa is the mastership. :)

But this Black RF is really great. BTW, you doesn`t like your Contax anymore. Why not settle it to Germany?

Well You can Vote too!

Odd, but the Contax, Nikon, Retina, and Leica did not even get Nominated to the list.

But you can visit the Camera and Coffee Thread to see most Contax cameras pictured, including my IIIa with its working meter.

All Time Favourite Camera Poll

Sorry, I am not a politician. They vote for themselves, I can not because of my name. Canon P voted by Canon P, what should people think?

In the end, it is always a matter of taste. After having collected the II/IIa/III/IIIa and seen a lot of those the Contax IIa still is the one for me and will be.

joona, welcome to the board and my, what a lovely camera you have there.
yes, i think it was frank s who sent you my way. i am far from an expert but i do love the canon p.
i'm late and off to work but we can chat later.

also welcome to canon p who prefers the contax? can we call you 11a for short??

;)joe

Don't get me wrong, IIa is an excellent camera and that Sonnar is propably one of the finest 50mm ever made but for the design and how it feels on my hands, I prefer P.
BTW. I also have a older II that's totally busted, but the 50/2 coll. Sonnar that came with it is in ok condition. I was wondering if it can be used with the newer IIa?

Welcome Joona !!

I saw that thread on PN and was curious about when you would join us :D

Now that's a beautiful P ! Congrats !!

Joona, I have the 50/2 coll. Sonnar (prewar version) which worked perfectly with my IIIa. I had no problems with it in the collapsed position. The 35 Biogon and Jupiter 12 is a problem on the IIIa and IIa. I love the Sonnars, and calibrated (changed flange-film distance) my Nikon S2 to better focus the Zeiss-Opton 50mm F1.5.
