I know you were, but you should of just ignored it! I've put my foot in my mouth more than once around here. I'm no doubt the #1 Christian nut on RFF & I wear that badge with honor, but I do try to respect the beliefs of others here. There are a good bunch of people here & whether they like me or not thats on them. I like every body & putting people on your ignore list is no fun because you'll miss something good!😀

Exactly... Only ignorant people put those with whom they disagree on ignore. There are two or three folks on RFF that have cheesed me off numerous times, and yet none of them are on MY ignore list...

That's because I'm more tolerant than a certain individual in this thread...
 
Newton didn't get famous because of his opinion of women. He got famous because people wanted to give him wads of cash for his pictures!

His photographs are a mirror on society. Maybe his pictures degrade women... yet they sell for thousands of dollars. What does that say?

Tell us what you think it says.

It's established that some like his photos, I myself like some of them. Other people do not. Some of the people who like them buy them. That doesn't mean everyone should like them. Or that any of them are good. It just means that some people like them and buy them. And there you have it.

Some are strange, but I found him while watching the movie "Eyes of Laura Mars". In that film his photography was central to the plot. I though that work was better than that in his book "White Women". (Faye Dunaway played the photog who took said shots). I'm not quite saying he's a pervert, but it certainly isn't your standard nude stuff. Certainly, his work is preferable to anything one would find in Hustler or on many internet sites, but I don't really find it erotic, just a different take than the standard nude.

Now, were I able to duplicate his work, or have invented it, I wouldn't be 54 and marginally employed..

I like the topic also & I haven't seen his stuff on YouTube. I'm going from work I've seen in years past plus what bit I have seen posted here. I really don't mean to sound judgemental in a religious tone (eventhough some remarks from certain individuals almost inspired me to do so) I only wish to ask what was it that drives such a person to make such photos, which IMO degrades women! I think this to be a fair question, if people would just set religion aside!

...maybe that the wealthy likes their pervision as well as the blue collar worker at the 25 cent peep shows?....I don't know! You try and get into the mindset of Helmut Newton & enlighten us!
 
As I posted above, I love Newton's work. It is fantasy and fetish.

Every once in a while a post here ends up upsetting people. There is really no need for it.

BTW: What is the copyright situation with posting his pix? Someone got upset recently when I cut and pasted a short newspaper article with a link.
