I hope there is an easy fix for this 😕 . I was shooting at a family event this weekend, and after a couple of shots, the rewind lever jamed. I didn't think anything of it, so I put the lens cap on and rewound the film. When I opened the back, the shutter was locked about half way up!! I couldn't get it to release, and had to shoot with the backup Canon F-1.

Is there any easy fix to this, or should I look at taking it to a repair shop?

Your input would be greatly apprecaited.

Thanks,

Jeff C.

Jeff,

This is usually caused by trying to advance the film before the shutter has completed it's travel for the previous exposure. Try gently wiggling the film sprockets and the advance lever to see if it'll release. I also found one account of a person who took off the lens and gently touched the shutter from the front, releasing it completely. I don't recommend the latter method.

Good luck,

BJ

BJ,

Thanks for the advice. I just got back from a meeting, and was showing a co-worker the probelm, when I accidentaly did just what you said to do. The shutter fell back into place, and was able to shoot again!! I fee like such a dork!!! Well, thanks for the info, and hopefully it won't happen again.
