Hello!

I want to copy/scan negatives with my Leica M8,

I've seen others use the BEOON (with FX/FF) but I'm not really interested in spending that much and I would much rather use my collection of EL-Nikkors.

Can anyone chime in on bits and pieces I could use to cobble something together!?

You need a copy stand or bellows, a way to hold negatives, continuous light source for focus and /or exposure, possible flash for exposure, colored filters to balance color.

Leica is a pain unless you have lots of equipment. Obtain the proper stuff from Leica is difficult and expensive. People who did it, have stuff from 30 years ago.

Buy a scanner or Nikon/Canon bellows, lens adapters , color printing filters and lights.

Remember you need to light the neg from behind. Look at Plustec scanners as decent value.

I can't really address the cost/budget issue, but others including myself use EL-Nikkor enlarging lenses with the BEOON. I personally use the BEOON with a Sony NEX-5T, an APS-C digicam. This fellow uses the BEOON and an EL-Nikkor with a APS-C sized Fuji X-Pro 1, and the OP of this thread now uses a m43 Olympus OM-D E-M5ii in high-res mode.

I don't get 1:1 magnification as one would with a FF camera, but the results are still significantly better than the CanoScan 8800f I was using previously to digitize my negatives. I was able to source a complete BEOON kit for $250, but YMMV.
