Help: CV 35/2.5 Color Skopar P II brings up wrong framelines

Hello fellow RFFers. I can't seem to find any info on this on the interwebs after some extensive Googling.

I just bought a Voigtlander Color Skopar 35/2.5 P Type II lens the other day. On my M2 it brings up the 90mm frameline instead of the 35mm frameline and on my M8 it brings up the 28/90 frameline pairings. This is driving me batty.

The lens is obviously new since it has the recessed groove in the lens mount for self-coding but I fail to understand why in the world it's bringing up the wrong framelines. I know it's the lug that's triggering the wrong framelines but can anyone tell me if this is how the lens is supposed to come? I bought it brand new from a local store and if this is simply an older copy perhaps I can swap it for another.

On the other hand if this is how the lens is supposed to be then I am a fool for not having read up on it in the first place =(.

Any thoughts from any of you who actually have this lens? I bought it primarily to use on my M8 as I'm a 50mm shooter on film with my M2 but I really don't want to be filing the lugs like I did my Summicron-C 40mm since this is a brand new lens...

This lens should be activating the 35mm framelines. If I were you, I would return it for an exchange or refund.

The Color Skopar does not come with the coding groves. Somebody changed the mount on your lens, and used the wrong mount.

You can either return it, or buy another mount on ebay. But test it first. The samples I had were great performers.

Hmm I had just assumed that since it's a newer M-mount lens that it would have the grooves similar to the newer offerings from Voigtlander.

I do like the lens but it's nigh useless on an M rangefinder if it brings up the wrong framelines.

If you want to - you can file down the "claw" that activates the frame selector of the camera. The 35mm setting is a "default" setting and by just removing material from the claw - you will end up with the 35 frame. If the lens was bought new - I would send it back and have the store replace the bayonet with a correct one. If it was a private buy - you can either return it for a refund or just file down the claw on the bayonet. Check on RFf for modifications done to Nokton 40mm f1.4's to bring up 35mm frame. All you have to do is just take of a bit more material - just file away until the 35 frame comes up.

Hi Roland, all the CV lenses now come with coding grooves. The very lastest production lenses also have Cosina Co. Ltd. and the serial number engraved in gold characters on the mount. Here's an example of a recent production Nokton 35/1.4 MC. The most recent Skopar 35/2.5s are the same.
