I attended my grandfather-in-law's funeral this week, and afterwards got to look through hundreds of his photos from his time in the RAF as a survey/recon pilot.
Most of the photos were only tiny little things and I couldn't take them with me to scan, but does anyone have any ideas as to what he could be using for these selfies? I would assume a 6x4.5 of some sort but it's hard to tell.

It was fantastic seeing photos from the war taken by someone I actually knew, it makes everything feel so much more real. He had some incredible photos too, but I never knew he took them and we never got to talk about photography.

looks like one of those fixed focal length/shutter bakelite cameras they had from way back when.

Whatever
Almost looks like an Argus. Maybe an A or an A2B?

I think the OP is right it must be an old Folder of some sort,
Looks as if his hand is pressing the release on a door away from the lens.

Unless he trained in Canada I'd be very surprised if an RAF airman had an american camera such as an Argus.
