Unpacked the KM DiMage Scan Elite 5400 II and installed the drivers/utilies on my Mac-mini [1.42 PowerPC G4 1gb ram]
My dad had gotten it to scan 50 years of 35mm BW, color neg., and slides with an emphasis on church activities. Never got a chance to finish the work.
This is my first experience with a film scanner though I have used consumer grade Epson flatbeds for opaque print scans.
So far I've tested a few slides and color negs using only the quick scan utility.
I've been unable to ascertain the version of the software and/or firmware. I was able to locate a software update D52102E.SIT.HQX.
The 5400 resolution with grain minimizing is providing very satisfactory scans even without fine tuning.
Any tips, warnings, or pointers to more detailed usage of this scanner?
