35mm can be a problem...esp coming off years with a 50mm..just too much space to account for..
But this can be a good thing too..and when you get used to it..you may shoot more so w/it than the 50mm..
Wide and fast and small..can't beat a good 35mm..!
Summicron ver4 f2.0 and 1.4 pre come to mind here as the perfect M lenses...even though for general use..I grab the asph 1.4 all the time. Shoulda never got rid of the ver4 f2..

A 35mm lens is useful when a 50mm lens is not wide enough.

A few with the ZM Biogon 35 f/2 on an overcast day. With eyeglasses and M262 (no LV) it's hard to see the entire field of view. All at f/8 ISO 200.

... and a 50mm lens is useful when a 35mm lens is not long enough.
The conclusion is then that both lenses are needed.

I think the conclusion is that both lenses are useful.

You don't have to love lenses just using them is sufficient but after a while you may appreciate having them...

I'm a 50mm dude too.
Or 85mm rather for portraits.
For large subjects, architecture, I love 15-30mm to get very wide.
I'm going to play with a 45mm now, ... but something in between is very very out of my comfort zone.

Yes, but you can crop from a 35 in case of need (I know for many this is a blasphemy, sorry). You cannot add something to a photo taken with a 50 ...
Just kidding, do not take it seriously
Last week I shot a roll with my 50 Heliar after almost an year shooting only 35 and 28 and I found it so difficult...such a small view in it !

Why not go for a 30mm, it's a little wider than 35, and you can still crop -blasphemywise- to 35 if you need/want to cut out.

Why not a 28mm, or a 25mm... why not a 35mm?

Hmm, I do not remember in 50 years of photography the existence of a 30mm lens for 35mm photography.

Thank you, Chris, I've never heard from this lens. Looks like an aspheric.

Nokton 35 1.4 M without barrel distortions.
But how do we get rid of these distortions when working analoge? The Ultron f/1.7 is much better: no distortion at all!
Leica M5, VM-Ultron 35mm f/1.7, 400-TMY2, Adox MCC110.

The infamous Nikkor fast 28 afd is purportedly 30mm.
