Help me to choose a perfect bag for my gear

Hello, Backalley Joe,

Have you used A&A bags? If so, how was the quality of the bags compared to the tt retro bags?

It looks my ipad might fit into the retro 5, could you please confirm it?

Also, what I am concerning about the retro 5 is the bag has very thin insert/pad. Is it enough to secure your M and lens?

Thanks,

yes, you do!

too bad there is none...

i just traded a 5xb for yet another 803...this time the 803 looks really small to me...maybe because i got used to the tt retro 5 and 10 bags...
i still have a 5xc and a tamrac ralley 5 on the shelf...like new bags.

but i'm sticking with the think tanks for now!!

Joe, you are very special. That is why we all love you so much.

I have owned 6 camera bags in my life. 2 bought back in the 70's that I wore out. 4 bought in the last 12 years that I still use. Actually I just had 2 of those 4 stolen but will be replacing them with exact duplicates. But I tried many bags in the store before I settled on the ones I use.

Now I could tell the OP which bags work for me. But that would realistically be no more meaningful to him than my shoe size.

Bob, so which bags are you using now? :)

It doesn't matter what the question is: the answer is - Billingham Hadley Pro! :)

+1 for this recommendation. The bag will fit all those items described by the OP. I have one also and the best thing about it is that I can use it as an office bag. Plus the thing looks good.

Chrome bags has their new camera bag, the Niko. It's really nice. The dividers are not great, so I scavenged some from an older bag, but the size is great, it's very comfortable, and Chrome bags are pretty awesome when it comes to being waterproof. This can't be submersed, but it's good for everything up to that.

I like it a lot.

Just bought the Think Tank Retro 5 in which I carry an X-100 (with lens of course), an M6 with 50mm attached, various cards, film, cables, etc. I moved my light meter to a pouch mounted on the side of the bag and I will still have room in the bag for another M body if I so desire.
I moved all this from a Crumpler 4MDH since I didn't like the shape of the bag and the use of 1/2 square foot of Velcro making it hard to open most of the time.
I have the black Retro with the light grey interior which makes things easier to see and the rain cover is a plus even though it takes up substantial room in the front pouch.

I use a small soft lunch cooler if I just have 35mm gear or the pentax 645 and the 75mm lens . If I'm carrying both a flambeau AZ4 tackle bag.
