I shoot mostly digital, and I'm not ashamed of that. And, Oleg is going to CLA a
Zorki-4 for us... because my wife once had one, and I've never had one ;-) Further, I'm negotiating a lens for Leica IIIf trade; I've never had an early model Leica. And, I don't see this as a heavy-duty case of GAS. I DO sell stuff, and keep my collection
of R/F's and SLR's down to a dozen, or so.

Here in Israel, just about everyone walks around with a P & S digicam. Hi tech, bio-technology, venture capital and start-ups abound. Some of the advances in Microsoft programs were achieved by the R & D team in Haifa. And, our plastics industry is very well developed.

Did I say plastics? The most logical reason I can come up with for keeping my hand in R/F photography?... It's the real thing. A couple of years ago in a Tel Aviv photo shop with the 1970 Oly 35 RC around my neck, I was asked, "How many megapixels
in there?... 😀 About 12?

Cheers, mike

Mike, you forgot Pentium Centrino platform and Dual Core Intel CPUs that were developed from the scratch in Intel Haifa (and the next generation is getting baked here as well) and also probaly the most advanced agriculture innovations...😀

What do you need to understand about yourself? 🙂

There's nothing to understand. I use a camera that suits you and your needs (emotional, spiritual, economical, social, you-name-it). And that's it. Don't try to find something behind that choice that's not there. Just live it. 🙂

Hey Mike ~ If you come up with an answer to the "why?" email it to my wife. She'd love to know. Me? I'm with RML. I keep old cameras around because I like 'em. I use 4 or 5 for 90% of the shooting + one digital. The rest are just friends. Playing with cameras is one of the few things I do just for the fun of it. And that's justification enough for me.

Plus, it gives me an excuse to hang out here with these fine folks. 😉

Hey all... Thanks!

I love RML's, Just live it.

And, to alexz... look at the wonderful gear you use!

And, to CVBLZ4... There is no why 😉

And to my buddy Ruben across town... Whether it's Kiev, Yashica or Canonet, I really respect the depth of your inquiry.

Cheers, mike

once again,
RML said it like poet 🙂

there's nothing to shame of!
For example, I don't use so often BESSA R2M because:
1. I'm afraid that I will scratch it 😛 - it is terrible for me to have about 800 Eur.
gear in hands!
2.I can't shoot at least 1 roll of film for day 😀
3.I am bad photographer, and I blame shutter noise for my mistakes 😱
4. I'll have time+money+wisdom of old photography wolf one day,
maybe ...
till that day come, I won't give up to shoot with any photo equipment,
analog or digital,
and I'll have special feeling about BESSA - it's mystical connection
with RFF community for me 😉
Regards, Mike!

Mike, the digital era marks the end of *fun* innovation (as opposed to *boring* innovations) for cameras. Plastics or not.

At some time in the future, if history is any indication, the trend may swing back to recognize the vintage designs.

For now, I count my blessings that I can get the classics for fraction of what they cost originally. Films are still available, so I use it, and that's all the justifications I need.

Cheers to our "wrongness" 😀 !!
