today i bought a kiev 2 on flea market, and i noticed that 2nd is a bit slow on slower speeds. anyone have any idea how to repair that? thanks in advance.

its a kiev 2 from 1951(without flash sync).its very nice. 😀 i could try to contact guy from survival site and ask him for help.

Don't know if I have the same problem as you but my B setting seems a little odd. It takes 1 second for the shutter to close as soon as I release the shutter. I don't know if this is normal but it doesn't bother me so I'm leaving it alone.

Russ Pinchbeck (the man behind The Kiev Survial Site) should be able to help you out on that. His screen name here is rpinchbek in case you didn't know.

something like that hapen to me too. and on all slow speeds there is a bit bigger delay before second curtain start to move. probably its a dirty mechanism.

Yo! It's me the survival site guy, Russ Pinchbeck to be precise. I understand from your initial question the 2nd curtain is sluggish on slower speeds. This would suggest the slow speed or 2nd pallet mechanism is probably dirty. I've got a Kiev 2 (1951 vintage) coming any day now. I've gathered enough images to describe the total dismantle of a shutter mechanism but I want to do a complete step-by-step procedure for a shutter cleaning. I will probably accomplish this document while working my way through my Kiev 2. Only problem, the weather is still really nice where I live so I'm not inclined to be sitting at my work bench.

Keep your eye peeled for an anouncement on RFF of any new content pertaining to shutter cleaning procedures.

Cheers,

Russ Pinchbeck
