So I printed out the focus scale seen here:

http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109748

It had seemed that my summicron was backfocusing wide open at close focus.:bang: After flubbing some shots due to what I thought was a technical problem I decided to do some testing.

Equipment used was:
M2 Body
Rigid Summicron 50mm
35mm Biogon F2
Ebay Cheapo LTM>M Adapter with Mint Summar
Cable release
Tripod
Eastman 5222 DoubleX in Rodinal 1:50 11 min (probably not the best choice but all I had at hand)

Im not sure if I had done these correctly but all were shot at absolute closest focus. I tried my best to focus on the 0 mark even though it was a little difficult to see. I shot wide open at first all F2, then at F5.6. The Summar was at 6.3.

It looks like everything is a little back to me? What should I be seeing?

Biogon F2

Biogon F5.6

Summar F2

Summar F6.3

Summicron 50mm F2

Summicron 50mm F5.6

The question is, is it also back-focusing at infinity? Both by scale, and by RF? so, then the adapter is too thin, or the infinity setting on the RF is off. If infinity is right on (and you might have a problem telling this, since it's hard to see when you are focused past infinity--best to do the tests for a couple of hundred feet out, then--focus the RF on something a few hundred feet away and see if the film agrees) and close up is off, then it may be the secondary adjustment on the RF, or, less likely, the lens itself.

I have noticed that many adapters, including Leica's own, are more likely to be a bit thin than a bit thick.
