I just got my Summicron Coll from Service and found the dot indicating the aperture and the triangle indicating the center of the depth of view are not aligned. I never notice it before, but on my other LTM lens, they should be aligned.

Pls help me check if you have the same lens on the alignment. Thanks!

No need to worry mine is the same. I think they were built that way so that it was easier to see the distance scale when there was an accessory mounted in the hot shoe. BTW the Summitar is also "Misaligned". Regards.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the kind reply.

I read from some article that Leica intentionally made the DOF center arrow off an angle from the 12 o'clock postion on LTM body for easy read. When this summicron fits on my LTM body, the DOF center is at 2 o'clock and the aperture dot at 12 o'clock position exactly. I guess it's made intentionally by Leica.

This is one of the standard questions with variations for ex-USSR lenses and bodies and mixtures. And the standard answer is that it doesn't really matter but - if it bothers you - you can have the lens matched to the body. But you are paying a lot for the look of the things.

Regards, David
