HELP! Newbie with Zeiss Contina

Im sure this is an easy one, but here goes.. Im new to RF photography. Just picked up a Zeiss IKon Contina 1a and have no idea how to get a proper exposure out of it. At first i assumed there was a built in light meter but I think wrong. Any tips on how to use this is appreciated

The Fuji film green boxes frequently have a table on the inside which tells you how to set the dials -
- the 30 - 60- 125- 250 are shutter speeds
- the 4 - 5.6 - 8 - 11 - 16 are aperature (lens iris size)
- the focus needs to be set to 10 meters for groups infinity for views
You need to visit the local library unless you can google real well.

After you have read several introduction books you wont need us but we will be waiting patiently, for your next post.

Your camera doesn't have a rangefinder. Focus has to be guess-timated.

If you go for a 100 ASA print film like Fuiji Reala or something like that you do not have to be too worried about the exposure settings since the film is relatively forgiving.

So I would say:
- read about the sunny 16 rule in the link given above
- go out and play with it
- try some different settings and then get it processed to see if your camera is working well, does not leak light etc!

If it seems OK then you can for sure find much more facts and data here at RFF and at various other sites and if you like the camera you can buy a light meeter later on to get more accurate settings in more difficult environments like indoor etc.

But - beware, it is easy to get hooked on this as a hobby so you may down the line end up with moe cameras!
