Help spending some moolah

need to prioritize some Fuji system purchases...

What I have:
X Pro 1 + 18/2 + 35/1,4 + 18-55 + inexpensive tripod + manfrotto Magic arm to give support from my wheel chair

What I want to shoot:
West Texas Landscapes, the prairie dogs at the end of the street, and portraits

What I'm considering buying:
Lee Seven5 filters, Lumopro 180 and light stand, Fuji EF-x20 - Nissin i40*, 16/1,4- 14/2,8**, 55-200, 50-140 - 90/2^

I have about $200 set aside already and will be putting aside $150 a month towards purchases. I'm also open to suggestions.

* can't decide between the two.
** wondering if the 16 is too close to my 18 but I've read what a great lens it is.
^ the 50-140 obviously costs the most but it could suffice in place of the 55-200, the 90, and even the 56.

So help me spend my money! 🙂

Most likely in your case the 50-140 could be useful but I'd recommend really getting to know the limitations of the kit you've already got before making any decisions. In this way it will become obvious what additional kit to buy, based on your own needs.

+1 looks like a longer tele would round out your kit and get closer to those doggies. i had the 55-200 for awhile, really nice, 3x stop image stabilizer, light and relatively small. zooms are nice to have shooting from a chair, think i'd go long if i were you.

If I were in your position, the 18mm wide angle prime and the 18-55mm zoom that you already have are all I would need for Texas landscapes. Therefore, I would not buy the 14mm or 16mm on your buy list.

For portraits, I would need something longer than 55mm. I have the 50-140mm and know it makes a great portrait lens. It also works well with the 18-55mm (or in my case, the 16-55mm).

If your inexpensive tripod is not giving you the support you need, you may want to consider replacing it with a more sturdy version.

At Least one or two gnd and a little stopper.

I would go with the 14mm over the 16mm. It's an amazing lens and the wider view will come in handy (or be essential) in photographing the big wide open of West Texas.

Prairie dogs are little critters. I would pick focal length over other considerations.

Portraits? The 35 and the 18-55 can do those. You've got that covered.

I don't use filters (other than UVs for protection) so I can't comment on that. Pretty much same for tripods and lighting.

Found a used 50-230 at a price that seemed to good to pass up. It'll be at least a place holder for the long end and at best may meet my needs.
