Hi
I just got a copy of this lens, v2 in canon museum. It is in great shape cosmetically and the glass is clear.
test wide open f/3.5
100% centerish
100% far right
No PP of any kind straight out of camera jpeg
Now f/8 or more
It seems to shoot just great, but I have two questions:
aperture adjustment---no clicks--normal? It moves fine, just does not stop anywhere between wide open and closed.
Focus ring. Turns with out alot of effort, but the resistance varies. This is not happening in any one location and is intermitant. No squeaking.
OK to use it this way? Am I going to hurt the threads on the helicoil?
TY sirs
Please excuse the wimpy Nex.

The earlier versions of ths lens do not have click-stops on the apeture ring- the later black versions have click-stops. A stiff focusing ring only means that the old grease in the lens needs to be removed, and new lubrication applied- typical features of a lens CLA. You are unlikely to hurt the lens by using it in its current state, though.

I have the same lens and can concur with what dexdog explained above.
