Help with 13352 Polarizer Please

I just picked up a 13352 polarizer in new condition. I intended to use it mostly on my M3 Summaron but it won't fit! Seems that the eyes stick up too far and prevent the polarizer from swinging into position. Did Leica make an adapter for this? Actually, a filter with a 42 to 43mm od would work fine as an adapter. Are any e39 filters made with a 42mm od? Thanks. Stu

Yep, you're right....try with the pivot hinge in between the two eyes, it should work unless the hinge blocks the RF patch window.....let me know how you make out.

Mike, above or below I can only get a little corner of the polarizer to view. The thickness of a lens filter is all I would need to enable the polarizer to clear the bug eyes. I'm sure Leica must have addressed this problem? If I found a filter ring with a 42mm od I would simply remove the glass and I'd be in business. Stu

There are 39-40mm thread converters.....but you should be able to find something at a camera shop. It would be nice to have a Vernier Gauge to check....you can always file off the stopper pin on your mint polarizer!

Tomorrow is the Second Sunday camera show in NJ. I'll take a caliper and go. Is there an online catalog of all the leica adapters and gadgets? Stu

I'll check my old catalogues but doubt they'd specify the OD of the filter...but you seem to have caught Leica in one of their very rare engineering "mistakes". I know that Tiffen used to make 39mm adapters that would hold a #6 filter, I have one somewhere and will look for it.

OK, problem solved. I found an old 39mm Walz filter, but a nice one with a chrome over brass frame. Just so happens the outside diameter is a little over 42mm. I removed the glass, screwed it into the Summaron, and now the polarizer fits perfectly. BTW, there was hardly anyone at the Second Sunday camera show. Seems like the internet is killing camera swap meets. Stu
