Help with Leica IIIf I. D.

I have found a Leica IIIf with timer, black dial with serial number 772923

Can anybody tell any thing about it from this info?

It was built in 1955. It has a self-timer and it's a Leica IIIf "red dial" 🙄

How is it a "red dial"? Can you tell if it is a Canadian made?

A red dial camera has shutter speeds of 25 and 50. A black dial camera has shutter speeds of 30 and 60. I have a red dial camera with black numbers. Go figure!

It has red contact numbers, slightly different speeds and a different flash sync speed (compared to a black dial).

Propably German made.

What lens is on it ?

Are the shutter curtains wrinkled / crackly ? ( if so, plan on replacing curtains and having a CLA ).

Durr3--My camera is serial number 797xxx, somewhat later than yours. I bought mine from Youxin Ye. Does anyone else have an RDST with black numbers?

I have not put my hands on it yet, but I was planning of a CLA anyway. The lens appears to be a 50 Summarit.

I scrubbed the numbers on my dial with a toothbrush and examined them with a magnifying glass under a strong light, and all the numbers and tick marks are still black!

Generally speaking, a III-f body with ST with decent curtains, in good cosmetic condition, generally runs in the $150 - $250 range.

The 50mm f:1.5 Summarit, with clean glass ( no cleaning marks or scratches) can be worth $300-$400. If the glass has cleaning marks, knock about 50% off that.

You might check KEH website for price comparison...

OK, it's mine...But it will need a CLA for sure and the leather replaced. Who should I send it to for these repairs? thanks
