I have pretty bad tendonitis in my right shoulder and elbow. As a result, I find that when I go out to shoot on the street I opt for the collapsible 'cron over the DR. I like the images I get f4rom the DR better thqn the collapsible, but the weight just kills me.
So my question is this: What are the weights of the DR and the Rigid (same lens, but no near focus mechanism on the rigid.) If the difference is substantial, then I might buy a rigid & switch to it all the time. But if not then I'll just have to put up with the DR and its considerable weight.
I just can't find these specs ANYWHERE! Help!

All of these are per the Sartorius book:

Collapsible: 255g
Dual range: 400g (unknown if that is with or without the goggles)

Fixed v1: 285g
v2: 260g
v3: 225g
v4: 240g black, 335g chrome

Hope this helps!

Vics, you might try having your left hand bear all or most of the weight. That's what I've always done with eye level cameras, and the tendinitis in my right wrist is only a few years old.

Thanks so much for that info! FYI, I went to Amazon to look for that book you mentioned, and they offered one used at $240.00. That book will someday be worth more than My M3!

I went out shooting today, and found that if I put my bag on my left side, I was forced to pick up the camera to my eye with my left hand and that worked GREAT! Thanks

That's insane. I see them now and again for $25 or so - keep an eye on eBay.

There are booksellers that prey on people via Amazon...
