Help with mounting slides

I'm sitting here with seven rolls slide film waiting for development and have to decide if I order them mounted or unmounted.

Since I don't expect more than 10% keepers I'm hesitant of spending 5.99 Euro per roll for mounting.

Is it hard to mount slides and do I need aditional equipment? I've never done this!

Socke it is easy to mount 35mm slides. You need a pair of scissors, small tweezers and delicate fingers. Glass mounts needs a bit more care. If you plan to put the slides onto a projector, get double-side glass mount (I use Gepe) because the glasses keep the slide from poping under heat.

If you're mounting 6x6 or larger slides, now that's a b!%@#....

I found a contraption with a light and a loupe to cut slides on ebay from a seller nearly around the corner and then get folding glas mounts.

I'll have a look at my fathers slide projektor tomorrow, a roundish green thing from the 50s with a double frame which slides left and right so one can change a slide wile projecting another. The screen is still fine, I use it with a beamer from time to time.

When my friends sister returns from Madrid in June we'll have a nice oldfashioned slideshow 🙂

Careful with that kind of projector. If it's like what I've seen, the projector has no cooling fan at all so your slides and the projector get very hot. You can smell it though before it really lights up. 🙂

Volker,

Mount them yourself with Gepe glass slide mounts. The white side of the mount is designed to reflect heat and faces the lamp. Gepe claims the slide can withstand temperatures up to 100°c. They snap together easily. I never used the contraption they sell for mounting their slides.

From your description it sounds like a Leitz Pradovit. It probably has a second slide carrier for 77mm medium format slide mounts. 😀
