Canada, eh.
Picked this meter up at a thrift store.
Am confused about its use measuring continuous light using f-stops and shutter speeds.

The mode button gives me a choice between
1.) flash/no cord,
2.) flash/with cord,
3.) continuous light measured in EV,
4.) continuous light movie mode fstop/frames per second

What am I missing?

It's model L-308B just like the one I've already got. Maybe the thrift store one is defective. On my original meter, pushing the mode button after the continuous light measured in EV mode, brings me the measuring continuous light with shutter speed and f-stop mode. My original meter does not have the cine mode. I'm comparing them side by side. Weird that they have exactly the same model designation.

Actually, they measure the same in flash with cord mode, as my original meter in continuous light measured in speed and f-stop mode. Guess that's a work around.

The instruction manual for the L-308B II has the following:

If you press the mode selector in the ambient light measurement mode while holding down the IS0 button, the display is toggled between EV and F values. If it is toggled after measurement, the measurement data is automatically recalculated and redisplayed.

I was really hoping this would work, but when I do, it goes into the cine mode. 🙁

"Additionally there is an EV mode, as well as a cine mode that displays frames per second. To use the fps cine mode requires the meter to scroll past the shutter speeds of 1/8000s."

So I guess you scroll down to get out of cine mode?

Did you try pulling the battery and turn it on without a battery ? Wait a while and see if it resets, if the shutter scrolling doesn't work.
