Boy you jumped in with both feet didn't you.😀 You got some nice cameras comming your way. Until you decide on a film scanner you can shoot c-41 process film and get a cd when you get your film developed. The Kodak BW400cn as well as Ilford XP-2 are good black & white films that you can get processed anywhere. Then you can put your work online here for us to look at and enjoy. Good luck with the cameras.

One downer is they might not come with a take up spool but you can buy these separetely. Some come with and empty cassette, for reloading.

I note in the picture of this Chaika with the back open it shows the same fault as mine. They forgot to blacken the back of the shutter plate, you can see it shining thru the film gate!! It caused horrendous flare when shooting against the light. I dismantled the camera and chemically blackened the plate, it made a huge difference to the photos!!!

Thanks John, I remember reading a (your) post about that but didn't put two and two together. thanks for the heads up. Aside from that does the little cam work ok for you have any shots from yours.

No problem Tom, they are nice simple little cameras, the Industar is VERY sharp, removes so you can use on an enlarger. It is 39mm thread, but will neither fit nor work on a L39 camera. Different back focus, and won't cover 24x36 frame.
I do have quite a number of very sharp shots taken with mine, but my neg filing system is a bit chaotic and I have not gotten around to scanning many of them. I posted a couple somewhere on this site, but not the best examples I have.
The top plate is easily removed for any cleaning, just watch the spring for the wind on slot. There is a little shutter which covers the gap where the wind on lever is, and it can take off with amazing speed!!
Lens filter size from memory is 17mm!!! I found an old cine camera filter which fitted.

Actually, I only just looked at the listings. I don't think you paid over the odds for the Zorki 4. It's an older model that's more sought-after and with the J-12 I'd certainly say that in UK-price terms it was not overpriced. The FED 3B and 5C were perhaps a little dear for UK-price, but not outrageous. Can't comment on the Chaika.

Looks like you've got a nice bunch of cameas. Prices seem OK to me.
Noel mentioned take up spools as something you might need to make sure of but I know that the FED5 spool is fixed and I think that is true for the Zorki 4 and FED3 as well.
My practise for spare/repair parts is to use either of these two service guys:

I have had work done by both and been happy with the results. Fedka is in the US and Oleg is in Russia.

At some point I will put together a special "Rob's 1960 Anniversary Kit"--my birth year and all the stuff will be from that year but for now I look to condition first and let the other things worry about them selves.

I have purchased from the seller before. I bought a Kiev from him still in the box for $60. His deal was the only time that I had someone send an item immediately, despite thae fact that I paid with a money order. Good guy to deal with.

The Industar on the Chaika (Seagull!!) is 28mm focal length and designed to cover the 24x18 format, this is why it won't work on the Fed, even if you use some sort of extention tube, it vignettes like hell. Funnily enough the cameras hand book states that "it is forbidden to remove the lens!!" Presumeably a term in the Lubiyanka followed if you did!!
We had this conversation on RFF before, the guy said that he liked the effect, I think it was a tacit admission of error!!

P.S. Tom, I hope you have slim fingers, you will need them to change aperture
