... make sure your collapsible lens is entirely extended and locked when you use it. That was, you'll avoid missing your intended focus point by, oh, 15ft. or so.
 
I was in a bar, but even late in the night, I assumed I get one or the other of the two subjects I'm seeing relatively sharp. Took me a few seconds to figure out the issue.

Not in my case: just one with the background in focus rather than foreground.

To think it happened to me... and not just once! :)
