Yes - as sharp as it gets. See http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91341.

This lens is disgustingly sharp wide open. I have sold every other lens I own, but this one. It's that good.

So what makes this lens so especially sharp? Special glass? Modern design combined with slow speed? Magic?

It's a true Planar design (6 elements in four groups.) If you wanna shoot it I can let you borrow it. I have no idea what makes it so sharp though.

I think I'll take you up on that offer. Let's try to meet up soon. Your free to try any one of my lenses if your interested, mostly older single coated types.

Years ago, Pop Photo or Modern Photo (can't remember which), ran a cover story with a photo including a speck in the sky. On enlargement, the speck was shown to be an airliner, clearly delineated. The story hyped the lens as the sharpest 50mm ever, IMS (If Memory Serves)

Roland (Ferider) also showed here at RFF that this lens is extremely sharp. This is why I bought it.

I think it's some kind of sorcery.
