Image 1: Hexar RF, 90mm f/2.8 M-Hex, XP-2, Halliestock, Queens, NY. Who's that? Think "Le Freak".

Image 2: Hexar RF, 90mm f/2.8 M-Hex, Fuji Provia 400 (I think), former Park Slope, Brooklyn movie theatre, later a makeshift house of worship, now – what else? – a trendy condominium.

In short: the lens is a keeper.

I have this lens, shot with it and processed the film 😉 It's a good lens, sharp and (I was corrected on this in another thread today, but I'm going to say it anyway until someone can tell me differently) contrasty. HERE is a comparison thread I did several months ago (nevermind the comments 🙂 the pictures give a good representation of this lens' look). Examples? All I have right now is this one:

Hex-M 90/2.8 shot near wide.

thanks Ralph. Yes, Ray_G has some shots in his gallery using this lens (I'm thinking particularly the civil war reenactment gallery). A very nice lens. I love the size, and it's fast enough for most situations.

I don't have this lens (I have the thin Tele-Elmarit), I don't know this lens, I have never processed any film from this lens (sorry, Joe, just had to throw that one in there), but I have to say, Ray, that is one sweet shot (whether it's contrasty, micro-contrasty, has or doesn't have true blacks, whatever). Kudos to you!

That's an amazing guitar photo Ray. I like the narrow DOF, and the fact that for this photo, the guitar was kind of a traditional dreadnaught body, not a bunch of electronics on it or the newer cutaway types, though those guitars have their places.

Do I see a business opportunity here? The Therapy Darkroom ... send me your films, I process, sleeve and send back. I'll stock something like 3 to 5 different developers, you tell me time/temp/agitation and if that bit is "wrong", YOU'RE wrong not me. 😀

part of my problem is that i don't want a lab to do my work.
i used a lab for the c41 ilford and that worked ok but it seems wrong to me not to do my own film procesing.
tho i have no problem having a lab print for me.

i need some quality time with my therapist...😉

Trius, this is a shot of my brother, who has a horrible guitar & amp GAS affliction. His home looks like a guitar shop, easily more gear than some of smaller shops around here. The gear is not wasted on him. He can play quite well.

He and I were talking about the similarities between chasing qualities in cameras, and particularly lenses and chasing qualities in guitars, and particularly amps. Anyway, waaay OT.

Can only second what others have said, it is a sharp, extremely well-built, compact lens that is equal to the best of Leica's 2.8 lineup.

Not easy to find, had to wait a long time before I found one. OOF rendition is one of its cores strengths.
