I have a very competent Mamiya six with a Zuiko 75mm 3.5 but I also find I'm drawn to a Konica Pearl II or III with the Hexar 75mm 4.5 or 3.5.
From what I understand both are Tessar design lenses.
For me the final image is the ultimate arbiter as to which camera is chosen.
Can anyone comment on the comparison between these cameras and their lenses?
Mind you I really do like the "look" of the Konica.

I prefer 6x6 so....
Tried the pearl iii. The images are great. Handling was poor compared to the Bessa RF's tha I'm used to.
It's smaller of course but that might be part of the problem.
Konica made Beautiful Cameras I agree.
Although I've used several Mamiya lenses over the years, Never tried any version of the Mamiya 6 folder.

Could you elaborate on the handling? Was it the placement of the shutter release, or something else?

I’ve used and owned Pearl RS, II & III. I’d say the handling is pretty similar . Easy to use fold down key to wind on. Decent VF with good RF patch. Accessing the aperture lever is slightly fiddly as it’s so small. The RS has the f4.5 and the II has f3.5. The latter on mine has some fine scratches on the front element but they don’t seem to impact on contrast etc . They are all small and can be accommodated in a large coat pocket . Stopped to f5.6 gives excellent results across the frame. Certainly good enough for high quality 12x16 darkroom prints.

Can't comment specifically about comparing these two cameras, but I recently got a Mamiya 6 in good shape (not an easy thing) with the 75mm Zuiko and my first shots with it look great. The camera handles fine, and in my view delivers on its promises: a nice large negative from a easy to carry and use camera.

Pearl iii. Bright, if small viewfinder. Rangefinder patch is good. Shutter release is on the left hand side on the door, similar to the bessa ii. But not very comfortable.
The aperture and speeds are on thin ribbed rings around the lens. Similar to the ikonta iii. I find them easy to use but some may not like them. If they are gummed up they can be very hard to turn.
Focus is done via a knob just behind the lens.
Film advance is performed with a knob on the bottom right. Auto spaced, no red window. However you stop need to click a lever on this knob in order to advance film.
So yeah, it is a bit fiddly of a camera. But it is beautiful, well made, and compact.
Note that it is a6x4.5, not a6x6 like the mamiya
